The Sims Wiki has a dedicated [[The Sims Wiki:IRC Channel|IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Channel]] that is open to all editors on the Wiki and allows live communication between multiple editors in real-time. ===Administrators===

Administrators from this Wiki are marked by 'voice' status and have a + in front of their name. They are able to kick or ban users who do not follow the policies set above. A kick is a temporary removal from the channel and serves as a warning. A ban can have a limited duration or be indefinite, depending on the severity of the case. The duration of a ban will correspond roughly to the existing policies on blocking users from the Wiki.

== Inactive Administrator Policy ==
In order to ensure that most, if not all, administrators on {{SITENAME}} are active participants in the community, {{SITENAME}} has adopted an Inactive Administrator Policy. The policy is as follows:

# An admin is inactive when they do not make a non-minor (examples of minor edits: fixing spelling, participating in discussions unrelated to The Sims or {{SITENAME}}, editing their userpage) or administrative-related (administrative tasks, not necessarily tasks only admins can do) contribution within three (3) months.
# Admins should be given a reminder up to a week before their rights are to be revoked. (Current inactive admins will also receive a warning when the policy goes into effect.)
# A former admin can immediately regain their status by contacting a bureaucrat and declaring their intention to return to active duty if the absence is less than six (6) months. If they are inactive for longer than six months they will have to reapply.
# If an admin knows they will be inactive they should step down. Special cases to extend or revoke an administratorship may be brought to the attention of current administrators. If an administrator is banned permanently from {{SITENAME}}, their rights are automatically revoked.

The Sims Wiki has adopted special policies regarding creation of fanon, and has created a special [[The Sims Wiki:Fanon Portal|Fanon Namespace]], where fanon content shall be placed. The following rules apply to fanon content, and all users should familiarize themselves with the rules before creating any fanon.

*Fanon content must adhere to all other applicable Wiki policies, including rules regarding profanity and content quality.
*Fanon may only be created by registered contributors: All fanon contributors must [[Special:Signup|register an account with Wikia]] and log into their account before creating fanon content.
*Users who have been permanently blocked must have all of their fanon deleted.
*All fanon pages must have the prefix "Fanon:", such as ''Fanon:<Name of Sim>''. This prefix automatically adds fanon content into the Fanon Namespace.
