Alexander Goth

Alexander Goth is a pre-made Sim who is introduced in The Sims 2, in which he is the son of Bella and Mortimer Goth, and lives with Mortimer and his sister Cassandra Goth. He has pale skin and glasses. His appearance may have been based on Klaus Baudelaire, from Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events." Unlike the rest of his family, Alexander did not exist in The Sims and is a new addition to The Sims 2. He seems to share his father's intelligence despite his young age and is enrolled in private school, which is why most players give him the Knowledge aspiration when he grows up. Due to the apparent age gap between him and both of his parents, it is believed that he was born just before Mortimer had aged to an elder, resulting in a big age difference between him and his sister. However, there is a picture in the family album of Alexander being held by Cassandra when she was a teenager and he was a baby, and Mortimer is shown as an adult, so it's likely he was born a day or two before Mortimer aged.

He has a memory of being taught to talk by Bella, so she probably was abducted shortly before he grew into a child. However, he has no memory of her abduction. He likes to play with toys, play chess and occasionally play piano. When the family is first played, he is four days away from becoming a teenager.

If Mortimer is already dead by the time Alexander goes to college, his mother will be the parent who drops him off at his dorm, even though she's supposed to be missing. This hints that she is, in fact, alive somewhere.

Trivia

  • There is a book in The Sims 3 entitled Murder in Pleasantview. It is written by Alexander Goth, although it could not be the same Alexander unless time travel is involved, since Alexander's parents are children in The Sims 3. There is a possibility that the title of the book is a hint as to more realistic ideas about dealing with the mystery of Bella Goth's disappearance, for players who wish to connect their story as close to The Sims 2 as possible. (Alien abduction is not present in The Sims 3 base game, or in any expansion pack released to date, though it might - or might not - be included in a later expansion pack.) It may also be a story about the rumors of Olive Specter being a murderer, though this seems unlikely, given that Olive lives in Strangetown.
  • A character named Alex Goth shows up in The Sims 3 for the Nintendo DS. While this Alex Goth has yellowish hair, it is implied that he is the Alexander Goth from The Sims 2. This is inferred from the family bio, which explains Alex's gloomy nature as resulting from 'growing up with a dad named Mortimer.' This causes some confusion in the game timelines, as, relative to The Sims 2, The Sims 3 for PC is set in the past, while the DS version is is apparently set in the future. He is married to the character Cecilia Goth. A statue outside of their mansion is used to activate the Epic Fail karma power.
