As of 4 September 2012 (2012 -09-04), there are seven expansion packs that have been released for The Sims 3. They are (in order of release):

• Ambitions
• Late Night
• Generations
• Pets
• Showtime
• Supernatural

Additionally, an eighth expansion pack, Seasons is scheduled for release on November 13, 2012.

There are also seven stuff packs that have been released as of 10 June 2012 (2012 -06-10). These stuff packs, in order of release, are:

Themes

Each expansion pack for The Sims is centered around one or more themes. Popular expansion packs included dating, pets, seasons, vacationing and exotic destinations, business and magic.
