Karl Simerburg was created by Vl4dimir-g0thik. He is a venal Sim that has always wanted to earn more and more money. He is the descendant of a very wealthy and powerful German family, the Simerburgs. Since he was an only child, he inherited all the money that his family earned in centuries, and he wants his children to do the same.
Karl was born in Sunset Valley/Neighborhood 1/Pleasantview, and he spent his whole life there. He soon began to show interest for money, and he evn pretended he wanted to earn a lot when he is older. He got into private school short after growing into a child. There he met Mortimer Goth. They did not appreciate each other, and this got worse when Karl became best friend with Bella. When both were teens, he tried to get his first kiss with Bella, but she rejected him, meaning that they were not best friends anymore. Soon after that, Mortimer and Bella first kissed and went steady, which made Karl angry and mad at them. He fought with Mortimer but unfortunately, he lost this fight. This was the beginning of the hatred between the Goths and the Simerburgs.
Karl is featured during his childhood in The Sims 3. He is already very interested in money, work and has the best grades at school. He is best friend with young Bella Bachelor and enemy with Mortimer Goth. Karl is introduced to all important people in Sunset Vallet, such as athe Altos, the Landgraabs and even Agnes Crumplebottom. He does not have any friends apart from Bella.
Karl has grown up since Sunset Valley, and he now works as a Paramedic in the Medicine career. Between The Sims 3 and The Sims, he met Geneviève Brémont, who arrived in town during his teenage years. They soon fell in love and when both became adult, they got engaged and married each other. Geneviève then learnt she was pregnant, and the twins Anna and Lawrence joined the family. Karl hoped that one of these children would get involved in the family business as he did when he was a child, but none of them seemed interested in these old stories. After a brief discussion with Geneviève, he convinced her to have a third child that would carry on his shoulders his legacy.
25 years have passed and Karl is getting old. He reached the top of the Medicine career and became a Chief of Staff. He eventually managed to have the third child he always wanted, Laura. He is really proud of her since he succees in interesting her in the family business. Nevertheless, by getting close to his third child, he is getting far to his twins. Indeed, after a violent argument between him and his father, Lawrence decided to leave his home and now lives at the other end of Pleasantview, next to the Brokes trailer. Anna's relationship with his father is unexistant, and he is also neglicting his wife. He also discovered Lawrence was in a relationship with Nina Caliente, and strongly disapproved it, even though he did not keep any contact with his son.
In The Sims 4, Karl's personality has not changed, and he is still very interested in money and legacy. He has low relationships with his whole family, and outside his family, he does not have lots of friends. Actually, his only friends are Geoffrey Landgraab and Bob Pancakes. Otherwise, he is enemy with both Mortimer and Bella Goth, Nancy Landgraab, Eliza Pancakes, Eric Lewis and Dennis Kim. He also strongly dislikes Zoe Patel and knows Summer Holiday.
