Marigold's only other known relative, Uncle Terry, recently died in a freak bug-zapper accident. She, like all the Maldanos before her, is considered either "quirky" or "insane", depending on who you ask. Marigold has a happy, sunny disposition, but she’s been unlucky in love. Her latest attempt at love was with Gladsten Farmwell, but he broke things off after she tried to make dinner and burned his salmon.
Marigold Maldano is a pre-made Fairy residing in Moonlight Falls. Her lifetime wish is to have the Perfect Garden despite the fact that she does not have the Green Thumb or Loves the OutdoorsTraits. The same situation occurred with Cornelia Goth of Sunset Valley. Marigold's bio states that she has no other known relatives, as her "Uncle Terry" died recently. She starts off with 5 skill points in cooking and carries two books in her inventory. The uncle who is mentioned in her biography, was the last of her relatives and died in a "freak bug-zapper accident". Terry has no grave and/or urn in town. The bug zapper death was probably caused by Terry flying into said zapper, while in shrunken fairy form. Her household also states that she has a deceased grandmother, though no grave and/or urn is shown in town for said grandmother.
Marigold Maldano appears to be a parody of Sookie Stackhouse, the main character from the book and television series True Blood, as both are descended from fairies and have a deceased grandmother. Also, the Marigold-Gladsten-Helen love triangle could be a reference to the Sookie-Sam-Tara love triangle in Season 1 of True Blood. Sookie also briefly uses "Marigold" as an alias in one of the books. She shares this parody with Susie Sackholme of Dragon Valley.
Her name comes from the flower of the same name. She has the insane trait, despite her insanity being more speculation on the part of others, as listed in her bio.
Trivia
Both Marigold's deceased grandmother and uncle do not have visible gravestones or urns. Also, bug zappers do not exist in The Sims 3, so Uncle Terry's death, despite being able to die from electrocution, is impossible in the universe.
Technically, due to her Cooking skill level, Marigold should not be able to make Grilled Salmon. This could be why, based on the description, it burned when she tried to make it for Gladsten. Although, the option for her to make such a recipe, at this point, would not come up in normal gameplay.
