Biography
Life leading up to The Sims 3
Bob had a hard time adjusting to life in Riverview until he met his new best friend, Betty. When he is not spending time with her, however, he mostly spends time lounging around indoors, leaving his parents concerned. During the trailer, it shows that Betty has a Hopeless Romantic trait, to show that she really loved Bob. She cried when she saw Bob kissing another girl.
Life leading up to The Sims 2 Pets (console)
Bob Newbie appears in The Sims 2 Pets (console) wearing something similar to what he wore in The Sims 3. He lives with his wife Betty and dog Buddy Newbie. Neither of them have a job. As in other games he's appeared in, he is quiet and a loner. However, it is possible that this may be a different Bob Newbie because he looks nothing like the way he does in any of the other Sims games.
Life leading up to The Sims (Console)
Bob Newbie appears in The Sims (console) wearing the same clothes as in The Sims, although his beard is black. He and his wife Betty Newbie live in 7 Sim Avenue. They both share a 20+ relationship, so it is unknown if they are really married. Neither one has a job, but it may be best to get them into the Military Career Track, since they are both very active. He likes to read books and water the plants, but doesn't like noise - he always turns down the TV and Stereo.
Life leading up to The Sims
Bob Newbie was one of the pre-made Sims in The Sims, and was one of the tutorial characters. He and his wife Betty had just moved into the neighborhood at the start of the game. They are inhabitants of 'Neighborhood 1' and live at 7 Sim Lane. They often make up the welcome wagon. Bob is bald, but has a mustache and full beard. He is pudgy, and starts out wearing dingy, greasy clothing.[1] Bob likes to spend time reading. Although he is married to her, his relationship with Betty is not very good. He and his wife Betty are probably some of the most popular Sims in The Sim universe.
Life leading up to The Sims 2
By the time the storyline has caught to The Sims 2, he and his wife Betty are already deceased, though he left a daughter, Brandi Broke to raise her family. She is the mother of two sons, Dustin Broke and Beau Broke, and is pregnant with her third son at the start of The Sims 2. She is the widow of Skip Broke. Bob, his wife, his parents, and his in-laws can be resurrected with SimPE. He also has an unused beard, though one very similar to it is available. Storyline pictures show him with black hair, and SimPE shows he has genetics for black hair, which implies that he dyed or lightened his hair in The Sims 3.
Interestingly, in one of the story-telling images, it shows Bob giving Betty a massage, also clearly showing that he lost weight, as he is no longer fat.
Life Leading up to The Sims 2 (console) (?)
Bob lives here with his roommate, Betty. But, they are very different from the usual light-skinned Bob Newbie and Betty Newbie. Whether they are canonical in their appearance, as by the time of The Sims 2, both Bob and Betty are deceased, or they are entirely different people, is unknown
Bob Newbie in Other Games
Bob Newbie is also an available character on SimCity 4. (Note: The selectable people like him are sort of like the NPCs of today's The Sims 2. They can be selected, and you can change their names, signs, and houses. However, the houses are extremely limited, and you can't play as them.)
