The Sims Wiki is currently open to new requests. In your request, please inform us if you would be willing to take a special position.

Requests for administratorship is the venue where frequent and skilled editors of The Sims Wiki can request administrative rights on the wiki. New administrators are selected by the community based on their editing history, behavior, skills, and other factors.
Minimum requirements
If you have proven yourself to be a valuable member of the community, and you think you're capable of doing the job, this is where to apply. Minimum requirements are:
*Average or higher wiki editing knowledge.
:This means you have to have contributed regularly to some wiki (not necessarily this one).
*Having started to contribute on The Sims Wiki (edits in the content namespace are not taken too seriously).
:*Your first edit on The Sims Wiki should not be your application on this page.
*Understandable, (almost 100%) correct English all the time.
:*If u talk liek dis, ur not rdy 2 bcome admin
*Playing the game is nice, since you'll be editing and making decisions based on the game's content.
*Be able to expand articles to make them more useful for the community.
:*You should not copy articles from Wikipedia and paste them here.
*Rollback rights are a prerequisite for requesting adminship.

Any user who meets the minimum requirements for nomination (see below) may be nominated, or may submit a request for administratorship. All requests are conducted on individual pages - a bureaucrat will set up the individual request page once a nominee/applicant has cleared the minimum requirements. To nominate a user for administratorship, or to apply yourself, please go here.
What you will do as an admin
*Revert vandalism, warn and/or block vandals.
*Move pages to correct page names, delete unnecessary redirects.
*Have a strong voice when decisions have to be made.

Requests for bureaucratship are also handled through this page. Currently-active administrators may be nominated for or request bureaucrat rights; to nominate a user or to apply yourself, please go here
;Note:This is a "young" wiki with few established rules.

Minimum requirements
In order to apply for administratorship or be eligible for nomination, a user must:
<!---* have content moderator rights;--->
* be able to communicate effectively in English, including the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
* have extensive experience in wiki editing, preferably including edits to templates and categories, and use of more "complex" tools or features such as tables (knowledge of or experience with JavaScript and CSS is also beneficial, but is not required); and
* not be prohibited from requesting or being nominated for administrative rights due to past actions or prior requests.

Bureaucratship applicants or nominees must meet all the minimum requirements of administratorship applicants, but must also currently hold administrative rights on The Sims Wiki. Bureaucratship nominees are more heavily scrutinized than administratorship nominees and the expectations for aspiring bureaucrats are higher than expectations for aspiring administrators.
More info and a list of current admins can be found at Administrators.

Procedure for Applications
Positions available
The following steps should be followed by applicants and nominees for administratorship or bureaucratship.
Additionally, some special positions are available for administrators and members of the community. These are filled on the Requests for special positions page, though users requesting administratorship here may in their request ask for one or more of these positions. List of positions and their responsibilities is available on this page.
Stage 1 - Nomination/Application
* Users may nominate themselves or be nominated by another user. The nominee then has to accept the nomination before discussion can begin. Nominations or applications for administratorship should be made here, and nominations or applications for bureaucratship should be made here.
* After a user applies or accepts a nomination, a bureaucrat should determine whether the user is eligible to apply. If they are eligible, the bureaucrat will create a page for the nomination (typically 'The Sims Wiki:Requests for administratorship/<name of nominee> (<month and year when the nomination page was created>)') and begin the discussion there.
* Multiple nominations can be queued at one time. Nominations which aren't responded to by the nominee within 2 weeks are subject to removal.

Stage 2 - Discussion
Closed requests
* A period of discussion shall last at least seven days.
* After the seven day period of discussion has elapsed, it shall be determined whether a consensus in favor of or against promotion has been reached.
**Consensus for these requests is defined as a general agreement among users engaged in the discussion (including the nominating user, if applicable). If necessary, consensus can be roughly measured as a general agreement between at least two-thirds of users engaged in the discussion (including the nominating user, if applicable).
* If the discussion shows consensus for a nominee, the nomination is successful and the user is promoted. If the discussion shows consensus against a promotion, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted.
* After the initial seven-day discussion period, if consensus either for or against promotion is not present, discussion will continue until there is a two-day long period, or longer, in which nothing is added to the discussion.
**If this occurs and a consensus for promotion exists, the nomination is successful and the user is promoted.
**If this occurs and a consensus for promotion does not exist, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted. This will occur even if a consensus against promotion does not exist.
* If discussion continues for ten or more days, and it is determined by at least two bureaucrats that progress towards consensus is not occurring, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted.
*The requirement for consensus is higher for bureaucratship candidates than administratorship candidates. Bureaucratship candidates should not be promoted without a clear and strong consensus in favor of promotion.

Other rules
Koolj1994
* A nominee whose nomination does not lead to a consensus for promotion will be ineligible to be nominated or to request for thirty days.
*I fix errors on pages such as punctuation and grammer
* A nominee may end a nomination at any time. A nominee that terminates a nomination will be ineligible to be nominated or to request for fifteen days.
*I have created a lot of player stories pages
* A nominee who has had three failed nominations within any six-month period will be ineligible to be nominated or to request rights for three months, starting at the end of their third failed nomination.
*I get on this Wiki everyday
* A nominee who applies for rights and who is ineligible will be automatically denied, and will be ineligible to request rights or to be nominated for an additional fifteen days, beginning after they would have otherwise become eligible. Nominations of ineligible nominees by other users will not result in a penalty against the nominee.
*You can also find me on the Calvin and Hobbs Wiki and the Grand Theft Auto Wiki
*I spend a lot of time playing the Sims 2, and 3 on my computer finding things to add to this Wiki
*I have expanded pages such as: Pita Florica, Gimi Branko, and Hazel Dente
*I am more than willing to take advice on how to edit, create pages, templates, etc.
Thank You. (User:Koolj1994) 22:16, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
:given rollback privileges. --a_morris <small>(talk)</small> 16:35, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Guidelines for discussion and consensus
User:Monster2821
* Points of discussion should be focused on assessing the ability of a nominee to perform their duties. Discussion should avoid sweeping praise or generalizations (e.g. "he/she is a good editor" or "he/she deserves it"), and focus instead on specific reasons why a user is or is not a good fit for the position.
Bureaucrat
* Users engaged in discussion may contradict the points raised by another user, but should remain respectful at all times. Back-and-forth arguments between two users should be avoided.
*1,000 edits on all of wikia.
* Generally, consensus in a request can be determined by answering these questions:
*700 edits on this wiki.
** Are there major and specific problems raised by multiple users regarding the nominee?
*well trusted by the community.
** Is there a lack of agreement between users over whether a nominee is qualified, capable of serving or a good fit for the role?
*used to the admin tools.
* If the answer to these questions is 'no', there likely exists a consensus for the nomination.
*nice.
:No bureaucrat requests will be granted at this time. --a_morris <small>(talk)</small> 17:57, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

I hope this request is legitimate...
;SimDestroyer

*I am a very active user
*Appraiser of Quality rather than quantity.
*Expanded many pages, sims, mainly.
*Improved my grammar to be on here, from what I've heard it's much better now.
*I've given some suggestions to resolve wiki problems and I like to help.
*Added many heashots onto Sims wiki.
*I think I do have an anti-vandalism record.
*During my log in time I'm always seeing what other users do, in case of being necessary any action like reverting vandalism or joining a discussion.
*I've made clean-ups to pages that need, for eample, this one made to Tricou family article
*Friendly and kind person, though can commit social mitakes, After all I'm still human.
*Like to thank users for good actions.
*Like to be here (and LOVE the Sims).
*I'll try to read The Sims Wiki:Policy carefully to make sure I understand its meanings.

Also I wish to help users at editing The Sims articles, though I think my knowledge is still narrow I can easily improve it with some effort and hard work, I'll be also even more active when it comes to vandalism, I'll try to be prudent and careful when issuing warnings and blocks, and always delicated when approaching to The Sims Wiki community new users, I'll consider people's feelings and wishes and I'll respect them. I'll try to adapt myself to a non-agressive behaviour.
:I hope this request is good enough :). Thank you. --Guilherme Guerreiro <small>(talk here)</small> 18:49, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

A little over two years ago, SimDestroyer was promoted to the (then-new) position of Content Moderator on the wiki. Everything that was said in my statement nominating him for that position, and everything said by the other people who voiced their support for his promotion, still stands as true as ever. SimDestroyer is a prolific editor, an effective vandalism fighter, and an active and engaged member of the community. He has utilized the Moderator tools effectively and without any history of misuse or abuse of power.
I give you my full support. What else is there to give? This is one of our best users. 100% awesome, and this will make the Wiki she's been working so hard to improve even better. --<font color="green">BobNewbie </font> <font color="red ">talk</font> • <font color="blue">blog</font> 18:55, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

Promoting him to the role of Administrator, although not bringing much in the way of additional tools and powers over that of Moderator, would enable him to do his work that much more effectively. I have no doubt that he will continue to behave with the same high standards that have come to define his nearly three years of editing history on the wiki, if he is promoted. And I have no doubt that the wiki and community will be all the better for him having these additional tools at his disposal. -- <span style="color:navy;">LostInRiverview</span> <font color="green">talk</font> · <font color="green">blog</font> · <font color="green">contribs</font> 22:00, May 26, 2020 (UTC)

*I am currently a fanon administrator and an administator on The Sims Medieval Wiki.
*I am used to the administrator tools, which I have used as a fanon administrator.
*I am willing to help other users in whatever needs they require.
*I am able to fix any errors that users may create, such as spelling, grammar etc.
*I am active almost every day and can be found on the wiki and on IRC.
*I have also applied to become the new IRC contact. (discussion)
*I have done some admin related work in both the fanon namespace and the mainspace.
*I do have an anti-vandalism record

: While I am really happy about this nomination, unfortunately I have come to the conclusion of having to decline it. I am aware of my skills as an editor and a content moderator, but the recent months of (from my point of view) decrease in activity alongside the lack of interest in the wiki (and the games) has led me to not get too hasty yet and rather wait for another time. If it ever comes. And when I first joined the wiki in 2017 and especially after gaining the content moderator role in 2018, I always had that thought of "This is the highest I am comfortable going in. I don't think admin is a role for me." While that thought has changed slightly ever since then, I am still not fully sure of accepting the rank of an administrator. But thank you for the nomination nonetheless. - SimDestroyer (talk) 15:57, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
I can admit that I may have made some mistakes when it came to warning and blocking users as well as one incident where I deleted a few pages based on pets and after being advised by the community and other administrators, I can see where I went wrong and I am sorry for making those mistakes. I would like to apply to become a "regular" admin so that I can carry out admin-related jobs in every namespace possible in order to help the wiki in any way I can and lift the burden from other community members and administrators. GGsig 18:51, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
:VoteFor, Strong Support. I have no doubt about your kindness, sense of humor, editing and admin skills, you're just a very effective worker as well. TSW:RFBRequests for bureaucratship is where experienced and active administrators can be nominated for or apply for bureaucratship. Bureaucrats fulfill a similar role as administrators, except that they are able to change the user rights of other users, and they cannot be demoted by anyone but Wikia staff. Bureaucrat nominees should be the most experienced and trusted editors on the wiki. Applicants or nominees for bureaucratship must already be administrators.
:::Well, since fanon admins already have the sysop flag, it'd just be a change in title. I suppose it does need bureaucratic approval all the same, and I don't have any problem with it. Dharden (talk) 21:42, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

I am so honored to call myself a Wikian. To be able to apply here to help my home Wiki grow even more will be, quite simply, amazing. Amazing. I say again, I have messed up, but I will promise you this: That if I do get sysop rights, I will, absolutely will, stay on this wiki for as long as I possibly can. I will try my best to edit everyday, and I will try to use each edit to make this wiki better, bit by bit. If you're still going to oppose, thank you for taking time to read this. Requests for administratorship is the venue where frequent and skilled editors of The Sims Wiki can request administrative rights on the wiki. New administrators are selected by the community based on their editing history, behavior, skills, and other factors.

Requests for bureaucratship are also handled through this page. Currently-active administrators may be nominated for or request bureaucrat rights; to nominate a user or to apply yourself, please go here

Minimum requirements[edit source]

In order to apply for administratorship or be eligible for nomination, a user must:

  • be able to communicate effectively in English, including the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
  • have extensive experience in wiki editing, preferably including edits to templates and categories, and use of more "complex" tools or features such as tables (knowledge of or experience with JavaScript and CSS is also beneficial, but is not required); and
  • not be prohibited from requesting or being nominated for administrative rights due to past actions or prior requests.

Procedure for Applications[edit source]

The following steps should be followed by applicants and nominees for administratorship or bureaucratship.

Stage 1 - Nomination/Application[edit source]

  • Users may nominate themselves or be nominated by another user. The nominee then has to accept the nomination before discussion can begin. Nominations or applications for administratorship should be made here, and nominations or applications for bureaucratship should be made here.
  • After a user applies or accepts a nomination, a bureaucrat should determine whether the user is eligible to apply. If they are eligible, the bureaucrat will create a page for the nomination (typically 'The Sims Wiki:Requests for administratorship/<name of nominee> (<month and year when the nomination page was created>)') and begin the discussion there.
  • Multiple nominations can be queued at one time. Nominations which aren't responded to by the nominee within 2 weeks are subject to removal.

Stage 2 - Discussion[edit source]

  • A period of discussion shall last at least seven days.
  • After the seven day period of discussion has elapsed, it shall be determined whether a consensus in favor of or against promotion has been reached.
    • Consensus for these requests is defined as a general agreement among users engaged in the discussion (including the nominating user, if applicable). If necessary, consensus can be roughly measured as a general agreement between at least two-thirds of users engaged in the discussion (including the nominating user, if applicable).
  • If the discussion shows consensus for a nominee, the nomination is successful and the user is promoted. If the discussion shows consensus against a promotion, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted.
  • After the initial seven-day discussion period, if consensus either for or against promotion is not present, discussion will continue until there is a two-day long period, or longer, in which nothing is added to the discussion.
    • If this occurs and a consensus for promotion exists, the nomination is successful and the user is promoted.
    • If this occurs and a consensus for promotion does not exist, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted. This will occur even if a consensus against promotion does not exist.
  • If discussion continues for ten or more days, and it is determined by at least two bureaucrats that progress towards consensus is not occurring, the nomination will end and the nominee will not be promoted.
  • The requirement for consensus is higher for bureaucratship candidates than administratorship candidates. Bureaucratship candidates should not be promoted without a clear and strong consensus in favor of promotion.

Other rules[edit source]

  • A nominee whose nomination does not lead to a consensus for promotion will be ineligible to be nominated or to request for thirty days.
  • A nominee may end a nomination at any time. A nominee that terminates a nomination will be ineligible to be nominated or to request for fifteen days.
  • A nominee who has had three failed nominations within any six-month period will be ineligible to be nominated or to request rights for three months, starting at the end of their third failed nomination.
  • A nominee who applies for rights and who is ineligible will be automatically denied, and will be ineligible to request rights or to be nominated for an additional fifteen days, beginning after they would have otherwise become eligible. Nominations of ineligible nominees by other users will not result in a penalty against the nominee.

Guidelines for discussion and consensus[edit source]

  • Points of discussion should be focused on assessing the ability of a nominee to perform their duties. Discussion should avoid sweeping praise or generalizations (e.g. "he/she is a good editor" or "he/she deserves it"), and focus instead on specific reasons why a user is or is not a good fit for the position.
  • Users engaged in discussion may contradict the points raised by another user, but should remain respectful at all times. Back-and-forth arguments between two users should be avoided.
  • Generally, consensus in a request can be determined by answering these questions:
    • Are there major and specific problems raised by multiple users regarding the nominee?
    • Is there a lack of agreement between users over whether a nominee is qualified, capable of serving or a good fit for the role?
  • If the answer to these questions is 'no', there likely exists a consensus for the nomination.

SimDestroyer (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log)

-- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 22:00, May 26, 2020 (UTC)

While I am really happy about this nomination, unfortunately I have come to the conclusion of having to decline it.

Requests for bureaucratship[edit source]

Shortcut

Requests for bureaucratship is where experienced and active administrators can be nominated for or apply for bureaucratship.
