Era template

Era template overlapping with a sitenotice.

You should check out Template talk:Era before adding that template to everything. As you can see the icons do not look pretty where they are and they're too big and adding the era template to all our articles is a LOT of work. It also breaks if a sitenotice is up, so don't add it to more articles until we fix the kinks. Duskey(talk) 22:44, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Sure. At the moment the icons it places on the right side of the screen are too big and "clip" into the horizontal line. Until now we've only used the template to mark featured articles and protected pages, which is fine since that only leaves a small star or padlock on the page, but these newly added icons are stil too big.

Also, if we add them on a few pages, it means we'll have to add them to all pages in order to be consistent, which means ALL articles will need the era template, depending on which game they're about. It's a nice addition, but with over 5,000 articles, it'll be quite a lot of work. Therefor we'll need alot of editors to do it, but not enough people are aware of the template.

Lastly, the template is not very good. If you see the screenshot I added, you can see that whenever we add a sitenotice, which is a message seen at the top of the wiki on all pages, the icons aren't moved down with the rest of the page, meaning they'll just float in mid-air.

We'll need to adress all these issues before we can implement the era template fully. I hope this helped clear up the confusion. Duskey(talk) 23:05, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Admin Requests ?

There's a list of minimum requirements on The Sims Wiki:Requests for administratorship though it may be a bit old. Admin requests are unfortunately closed at the moment and we're discussing whether they should be open again. Duskey(talk) 14:08, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the only thing an admin has over a regular editor are some small buttons, such as 'rollback' (which rollback users also have) 'delete' and 'move file' (normal editors can move articles, but not files). Perhaps you should be on the lookout for vandalism and spam, to test the rollback button, though we do not get it often. You can also try the rollback button in our The Sims Wiki:Sandbox to see how it works.

If you're worried about your spelling, try to improve your english either by having a dictionary handy or looking up words you don't know the spelling to on the net. Using the preview button and re-reading your post, checking for errors is always a good idea, even for small and trivial posts.

Archiving

Hi GG (can I call you GG?) I see you recently cleaned up your talk page. You should create an archive instead. See Help:Archiving talk pages. Archiving talk pages is great 'cause you can find old discussions there. The Sims Wiki uses Template:Archive and Template:Archive navigation for them. Sure. You simply cut the text you want to archive from your talk page and paste it on a new page eg. User talk:Guilherme Guerreiro/archive 1 and place Template:Archive at the top of the new page to let people know they shouldn't be editing it. Then you place Template:Archive navigation at the top of this talk page with the first parameter as a link to the new archive page eg. [[User talk:Guilherme Guerreiro/archive 1|1]]. Why did you undo my edit to Molly French? Her in-game preferences do not appear match the speculation in the article, however her relationships may work out. No problem, looks like it was just a miscommunication then! I found this out using the NRaas Master Controller package, which can dig out some of the information that e.g. SimPe would do in Sims 2. According to Master Controller (I can't vouch for its accuracy, but have no reason to believe it isn't reliable) her preferences are 1000 male/-1000 female, which seems to be normal for heterosexual sims as far as I can see; though as the game progresses this can change depending on how their relationships develop and who with. A casual browse through the neighbourhood suggests most have prefs of 0/0 for male/female respectively, which I found surprising, so it's possible that this figure isn't quite as significant as I'd thought anyway! It's an add-on package that adds a means of querying and changing all manner of information about characters and other objects in game; it adds a new menu option when left-clicking on the thing in question. It's really rather handy for those of us who can't resist tinkering! It's for Sims 3, and it does allow you to change preferences, names, traits and pretty much everything else. Personally I'm just interested in prying, but those of a more creative disposition can be pretty much as creative as they like! --vom 19:25, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, I may have to eat my words here: it seems that the sims' preferences aren't set in stone but initialised at the beginning of a new game, so they could go in any direction (or just stay neutral). Unfortunately I've no idea what determines their preferences or if it's just a dice-roll, but I have to retract my comment about her apparent inclinations as being just an example of "that's how it is in my game", however much I thought otherwise at the time. Fortunately I started a new game with AwesomeMod's "InformOnStoryAction" enabled which reveals that there's rather more going on than I'd assumed. RE: Images?

Don't worry, I will add the images later. I effectively have simPE (if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to know the english names of the Sims, since I play the french version), and I'll be glad to add as many headshots as I can. I just sometimes forget about it...

Speaking of headshots, I observed that you often uploaded mant headshots of Sims 3 Sims (the ones like Bessie Biller's, for example). I do not think that my headshots are better than yours. They are done the same way! This would be odd.

RE Candidates for Deletion

I effectively think that Alan and Bobby are generated babyssitters (as well as Thad Clayton). When I searched for NPC's in the three towns, I had come to the conclusion that there are 2 Npcs per group: 1 male and 1 female (except for the social workers: 2 bring adopted children home, two are taking the neglected ones away). If this is right, Alana Churchill and Bobby Clemens are effectively generated. Moreover, I didn't saw them when I used "make me know everyone" on the mailbox (testingcheatsenabled true must be activated). And Alana has no "customized" clothes. About warning other users

I see that you left a message on Isabel 123456's talk page informing her that she should "be more careful or [she] maybe blocked forver [sic]." While you are allowed to warn other users on their talk pages (except through the use of the {{warning}} template), you should avoid making statements such as "if you don't stop, you'll be blocked," because you don't have the power to issue blocks. A better response might be "if you don't stop, your actions will be reported to the administrators, and they may block you." The thing I notice most regarding your English is that it's pretty clear you're not a native speaker of it... but if I read what you're saying, I understand most (if not all) of it.

For example, on my talk page you said "I do not have a very good English but I think I much better than I was in start of wiki because what I didn't understand here I searched for the meaning!" If I, being a native English speaker, were to write that sentence, it would read something like this: "I don't speak very good English, but I think I am much better than I was when I joined the wiki. When I didn't understand what someone said here, I searched for the meaning!" Don't worry about that. I only brought it up to user:Eduardog3000 because his IP has done extensive editing, including edits to his own user page. It's happened so much that Eduardog has actually made a redirect from the IP's user and talk pages onto Eduardog's own pages. RE :Barnacle Bay

No, I sadly did not buy it, but some people have uploaded some of Barnacle Bay resurrected ghosts on the Sims 3 exchange. I tried on Cathy Chaterly. By the way, I think that these green-skinned premade deceased sims in Twinbrook and Barnacle Bay, with grey hair and barefoot are a very BAD additon to the game. I agree with you, of course. I was extremely disappointed in the Ivy Hill Graveyard and the absence of family connections. I usually don't recreate sims 2 sims (I mostly play with my CAS, th Dortheimer), but I understand it's not a great idea for people who do such thing.JM9193 09:35, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

This is harsh to say. In one game, I got 8 generation. But since my computer often crashed in the past, I had many many games (in six or seven years) and reached 13 or 15 generation in total, with 4 big "parts".That's a lot :D.JM9193 09:51, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Changing premade faces

That did not work. Sorry! But I think the best way is to delete the Bachelor family and remaking Bella. This way you can also see how she'll look when she age's up. I also want to change Bella. She just does not look as pretty as she did in the sims 2 when she ages up. Oh, and well done for all your hard work on the wiki.
