The Moodlet Manager is an object in The Sims 3, The Sims 3 (console) and The Sims 3 Pets (console).

Functions

The Moodlet Manager has a Cure and Zap function. Cure removes all negative and neutral moodlets but sometimes will malfunction and empty Sim's energy need. Zap empties Sim's energy the same way when Cure malfunctions. The Moodlet Manager will also fill needs if they are low enough to produce a negative or neutral moodlet. Some Moodlets such as "Missing Work" cannot be cured (See Notes).

Moodlet Managers can be very practical for certain moodlets that have special effects on Sims. For example, curing a Sim will instantly complete transformation to become a vampire, cure zombies and Sims cursed by a mummy, cure a singed Sim, and so on.

Appearance in games

The Sims 3

In the Windows and OS X version, it is obtainable as a Lifetime Reward for 60,000 Lifetime Happiness points. When purchased, it will appear in the Sim's inventory. The Moodlet Manager can only be used by the Sim that has it in their inventory, so the player will need to move it between Sims.

If the Grim Reaper takes away a Sim that has a Moodlet Manager, it will be moved to another Sim. However, if a child who has a Moodlet Manager is taken away by the Social worker, the Moodlet Manager will not be transferred to another Sim.

A bug prevents Singed from being fully curable if the player has Seasons or later although this doesn't affect the electrocution version of Singed. However, the Moodlet can still be fully removed if playing on Supernatural or earlier unless the player has their game fully updated.

A Moodlet Manager can be sold for anywhere between §7,200 and §12,000.

The Sims 3 (console)

In The Sims 3 (console), it is a Challenge Reward that can be purchased for 450 Challenge points. When the reward is purchased, it can be bought for §3000 in any saved game even those with cheats enabled . It has the same functions as in The Sims 3 but when placed in the inventory, any Sim in the household can use the Cure and Zap functions.

Since cheats disable challenges, players cannot complete challenges to earn 450 points.

The Sims 3 Pets (console)

In The Sims 3 Pets (console), it can be obtained as an invention when a Sim has Level 10 Inventing. It's similar to the one in The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 (console) but there are differences. It cannot remove neutral moodlets such as Fatigued and initially has 5 charges.

Notes

  • In the Mac and PC versions, the the Cure and Zap options only appear when a Sim has it in the inventory and won't appear when controlling other Sims. For example, Cornelia will not have the Cure and Zap commands if Gunther has it in his inventory. In the PS3/Xbox 360 versions of The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 Pets, Cure and Zap will appear for all Household members when in the Sims' Inventory.
  • In The Sims 3 (console), the Moodlet Manager costs §3,000.
  • The Moodlet Manager will not fill a Sim's energy if the Sim has "Pumped," "Buzzed," or "Wide Awake" moodlet.[confirmation needed]
  • Moodlets without a timer such as Enemy!, Missing Work, and Hunted will be cured but will still be coming back. This is due to the fact the some Moodlets only disappear when certain conditions are met. For example, Enemies, Vampires[TS3:LN][TS3:SN], and Tragic Clown[TS3:SN] Sims provide a negative Moodlet that only disappears when away from the Sims in question. Similarity, Missing Work will only disappear if the Workaholic either heads to work or the work area for Professions, or until the work hours end. However, it will remove Singed and Anxious to Advance despite not having a timer.
  • Since The Sims 3 Seasons, the Moodlet Manager does not remove the "Singed" moodlet but only if it was caused by fires, it will still remove it if it was caused by electrocution. This also occurs to games prior to Seasons if one has their game patched with the update from Seasons to Into the Future.
  • The Moodlet Manager will actually fill a need to cure a moodlet, but will not give Sims the moodlet that goes with that need i.e. the "Good Meal" and "Well Rested" moodlets. This is because the moodlets are associated with the food eaten and the bed used by the Sims. It will, however, give Sims "Squeaky Clean" and "Having a Blast" moodlets.
  • The Moodlet Manager is less useful in Supernatural as there are neutral Moodlets that provide positive effects. In addition to removing negative Moodlets, neutral Moodlets are also removed. While this is useful for the Fatigued Moodlet, it will also remove other beneficial neutral Moodlets such asTurbo Sleep, Invigorated, and Wish Master therefore canceling the effects of the Elixir.
  • The only negative and neutral moodlets that the Moodlet Manager won't cure are "Singed" (except by electrocution), "Unexpected Weight Gain" (as a result of alien pregnancy), and midlife crisis moodlets.
  • In The Sims 3 for console, the "Mostly Dead" moodlet is applied to a Sim that has died and been turned into a ghost. When the moodlet expires, the affected Sim will be sent to the Netherworld. The moodlet lasts for 5 days, giving the affected Sim some time to cure/resurrect themselves before they pass on completely. The Moodlet Manager will remove this moodlet, allowing the Sim to stay in their ghost form for as long as the Player stays in the game. If the player quits out of their game and rejoins, their Sims will have re-applied the "Mostly Dead" moodlet, which restarts the 5-day countdown. The player may use the Moodlet Manager to cure their affected Sims infinitely.
