User blog:C.Syde65/Notable Sims from the Sims 2 Base Game and their Default portrait poses
Some of you may have noticed that there are eight different portrait poses for Sims in the Sims 2.
There used to be at least two other portrait poses, one used by Sims such as Skip Broke (Hidden), Gunther Goth, Simon Crumplebottom, Flat Broke, Bruno Ruggbyrne, Davis Dreamer, Myron Oldie and Sef Darong. The other was used by Sims such as Michael Bachelor (Hidden), and Nestor Caliente. Both of these portrait poses however were discontinued during development.
Below is a list of the eight portrait poses and some of the Sims from the Sims 2 base game that use them.

Notes:
- All the information that I've written above is correct. The most efficient way to prove this is by aging the toddler and child Sims, since the baby, toddler and child variants of each portrait pose is different from the older life stages. However this way is only possible if expansion packs aren't installed, since portrait poses are no longer fixed with expansion packs.
- To switch genders to see the other gender variant of each portrait pose, you do this with CAS Sims in Create a Sim with the base game only. Before you have confirmed the creation of your family, go back and edit a Sim that's now waiting in the waiting room for new family members.
