Welcome[edit source]
Hi, welcome to The Sims Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Comparison between The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 page.
Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- A morris (Talk) 18:13, 19 August 2009
RE: Military[edit source]
Actually, I was bombing the IP who made the previous edits because I know you have a reputation and even if you messed up a page, you would revert it.
Unfortunately, I rollbacked 4 or 5 revisions but nothing changed, we need a coding expert for this. :( - JEA13 [iTalk] 19:21, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Re: Military page[edit source]
I tried looking at the code, but it looked like a garbled mess... not that it doesn't always look like a garbled mess, but usually I can figure out what it means. You're probably right about the expert thing.
I tried figuring out what the IP put in, but all I could find were 'mmmmmmm's at the bottom of the page. Vandal? LostInRiverview 19:25, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well who knows. However, with 5 revisions rollbacked, the coding mistake must have happened a long time ago. I don't know what to do. Fortunately, that is not a high-traffic page.
- Hey, since you started a section on my talk page, why don't you continue there? - JEA13 [iTalk] 19:27, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have rollback rights? Me, having, used them to quicklu undo yours (had to :D) and the IPs edits and still the page was messed up. So then I rollbacked another 5 older edits, and still the page was messed up. I srsly don't know what to believe. - JEA13 [iTalk] 19:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have fixed the Military page. An anonymous user had removed some of the table code (as well as added 'mmmmmmm's). The easiest way to revert vandalism is to use the undo function on the history page. Using the radio buttons and then compare version you can undo multiple edits. --a_morris (talk) 21:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Politics[edit source]
I have fixed the Politics page. The end table code |} was missing. Please use the preview and show changes functions before saving. --a_morris (talk) 21:13, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
- In that case, you can also check the history and do a comparison between your edits and the user before you. --a_morris (talk) 21:21, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
Hi[edit source]
Okay, cool. Have you played The Sims 2: Pets (console) by any chance? It seems no one has...or at least I'm getting that impression because it is left out of like every page describing pretty much anything, ahah. The characters from it don't even have their own pages on here... Anyway, the reason I'm asking is because you said you've owned like every expansion so I thought there might be hope. xD I need to find somebody because I think that one of the characters from it named Buck Oakley has some relation with Buck Broke but this apparently has never been considered since no one on here has played the game. xD I think it's a very valid possibility... Must...create...following.. --Shirviu 02:06, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

The Sims Project[edit source]
Hi. Since you've already filled in descriptions for some of the TS1 career tables, I wonder if you'd be interested in checking out Project The Sims . I've made a list of the tables that still need descriptions for the TS1 jobs. Thanks. Dharden 04:35, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. As far as I know, you wouldn't need to sign up, though there is a Project Members page you could put your name on if you wanted to. Dharden 05:00, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
Separate articles for all Cars[edit source]
I agree. Each type of car does not need a separate article. The information should be merged with Car and maybe the family articles mentioned and the stubs should redirect to Car. A list of car owners could be created to list which families own which car(s) as well. --a_morris (talk) 20:16, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

The Sims 3[edit source]
Hey! I know you're busy with school and stuff, but if you ever have a free moment could you participate in DavidMC123 and I's user-created contest? It's a ugly Sim contest, where you make a really ugly Sim in The Sims 3 and enter them. The information is on the page. Thanks! Bleeh [iTalk] 23:30, February 16, 2010 (UTC)
- That sucks D:!!!! Oh well, The Sims 3 is pretty boring anyways (my opinion). Bleeh Lions make you brave, giants give you faith...♥ 23:37, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Your idea[edit source]
Hi! I've just read your idea of making "Editor of the month" and I will support your idea. We need something new to make this wiki more attractive as we have just reached 4000 articles around ago. The featured users page should be expanded to the main page as well, so everybody can see it directly in the main page. --Walker guy94 [MyTalk|MyBlog] 09:30, June 14, 2010 (UTC)
- I just read it aswell and posted a comment directly on the blog. Duskey(talk)(blog) 15:32, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to but in, but someone already seems to have blocked the vandal. Check the block log. Jeve 02:14, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm... never heard of that admin before, must be a Wikia staffperson, not a local admin. Thanks for the heads-up though. LostInRiverview (talk)(blog) 02:22, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
Trait templates[edit source]
Hey there. If you're doing traits, be sure to include the templates at the bottom. There's a specific template for each type of trait eg. . Just trying to help you save some trouble :) Duskey(talk)(blog) 04:12, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
- I assume you're adding a direct link to Category:Absent-Minded Sims aswell and adding the type of the trait to the first line. I think those are the three things needed on almost all trait pages. We should probably add that somewhere. Duskey(talk)(blog) 04:36, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Just don't explode or anything. and thanks for the... rose. We really need some manly awards added. Hmm... Duskey(talk)(blog) 04:41, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
- One last thing: You don't seem to use clrl on the trait pages. I just did it on Adventurous, it stops the line at 'Attributes' to look all funky. The layout should be similar to this:
- Just don't explode or anything. and thanks for the... rose. We really need some manly awards added. Hmm... Duskey(talk)(blog) 04:41, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
Image text1 (don't forget the space here) text2 clrl ==H2== etc. Example: Adventurous is a lifestyle Trait (The Sims 3) in The Sims 3: World Adventures. Adventurous Sims enjoy traveling and exploration more than other Sims, are able to go on new trips sooner, and improve their Visa levels more quickly. clrl ==Attributes== etc.
clr is a wonderful template for making sweet looking articles. Keep up the awesome job!
PS: I added some suggestions for awards now that we talked about it: The Sims Wiki talk:Awards. Duskey(talk)(blog) 05:13, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
Tips on templates[edit source]
When I fiddles with my first template Template:Patch I learned that you should always test it on user pages first and not add categories until the end. I also helps to make the /doc page first in my experience. A quick brainstorm of what information exactly you're gonna put in the template and how you'll structure it before beginning is good advice too. Checking to see if you can make it look like other templates aswell would be sweet. I found Template:Object to be very useful as an example. If you're making info boxes you should probably try and make it look like those. If you have any questions you're welcome to spam my talk page. I'm no veteran or anything, but I might be able to help with basic stuff. Duskey(talk)(blog) 11:21, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

Re: CLRR[edit source]
You must have a wider monitor than I do. I couldn't afford a new monitor when I had to replace my computer, so I'm still using a 16:9 CRT. I also run at 800x600 because it's much easier on my no-longer-young eyes. Anyway, it was a stopgap until there was enough content to push the table and header down past the infobox. I dug into my memory and dug up my notes and filled it out. Dharden 20:54, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
- Just a thought... do you want me to delete the screenshot you used? Dharden 23:14, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

It Is Not About The Twilight Saga!
Rollback[edit source]
Could you roll Trait (The Sims 3) back to the June 27 version? There's two edits containing speculative information. Duskey(talk)(blog) 22:39, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
Edits by Monkeysandmyths[edit source]
I think I spotted the problem, or at least a problem, with the edits Monkeysandmyths has been making to Player Stories pages. The asterisks are being moved away from the left-hand margins, so they're being read as asterisks rather than wikicode for bullet points, and that's affecting the formatting. Dharden 00:36, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Woot![edit source]
Thanks! And yes I removed it, but I liked being a bad boy! :p Duskey(talk)(blog) 15:33, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Table[edit source]
I dunno. Judging by the history of your edit with it, it looks like either you or the editor puts in extra lineskips and deletes some here and there. Not sure why it'd break like it did though. Duskey(talk)(blog) 18:09, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
- It's typical isn't it. Days go by without any news to soothe your soul in the baking sun and then BAM! New patch and rumored next expansion pack spotted at a retailer, all within a few hours. Duskey(talk)(blog) 18:49, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

I see you added . I added some time ago myself, we should probably decide on one. Duskey(talk)(blog) 01:29, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I remember now. I took it from a screenshot, the one you uploaded is from the package of icons. We should use yours, it's more 'clean' and already a transparent png. Duskey(talk)(blog) 06:25, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Tookute4me[edit source]
Point taken. I'm still not completely comfortable with such drastic escalation, but they have been rather flagrantly contemptuous of the rules and even the idea that we have rules, so "three strikes" may be appropriate. Dharden 23:58, July 11, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Timer[edit source]
Yes? In response to what? This message seems abit random. Anyway, it's already on The Sims Wiki:Project Message template standardization pending editing once that project takes more shape. Duskey(talk)(blog) 07:15, July 12, 2010 (UTC)
- I also started Countdown. It's supposed to be a stripped down version so you only get the numbers. This way you can insert it in and where you want. It's still under development as I'm not quite sure about which timezones it accepts. PST (Pacific Standard Time - North Americs) and UTC seems to work. It needs more testing and looking at what class:countdown does would be helpful. Duskey(talk)(blog) 12:31, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
Deletion[edit source]
Do you see a newly created Werewolfcyous255 page in the activity feed now (05:18, July 14, 2010 (UTC))
Clicking it gives you a page as is it doesn't exist. I think it was created without any text, but still added so it shows up in activity feed. Maybe the solution would be to delete it. Duskey(talk)(blog) 05:18, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Nope... it's red-linking for me. And the user that created the page hasn't created a new one... in fact, they haven't edited at all since I moved it. I don't know what's going on at your end, though. -- Patrick (LostInRiverview) (talk)(blog) 05:21, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh well, as long as nothing links there, we're good. While I'm here, could you take a look at some candidates for deletion? They're all file redirects which aren't in use or images with duplicates. Also I accidentally uploaded File:Facebook icon.ico but didn't mean to.

They've been candidates for a long time and looks like no one has bothered to remove them yet even though they technically are candidates for speedy deletion even. Duskey(talk)(blog) 06:05, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Wow... that's a pretty long list. lol, it looks like I picked a perfect time to go to bed! I'll take a look at them the next chance I have, but I'm really tired and I'm calling it a night. Ciao! -- Patrick (LostInRiverview) (talk)(blog) 06:23, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
Countdown Test[edit source]
Example date: September 15, 2010, 12:34 pm (UTC)
With the introduction of Daylight Saving time (or 'Summer Time'), matters are complicated as times in participating areas are an hour ahead of 'standard time'. So, where the Eastern time zone is typically 5 hours behind UTC (if it's 5:00 pm at Greenwich, it's only Noon in New York), during Daylight Saving (early March to early November), this is an hour shorter (4 hours behind)
For North American users, I will be testing all 6 United States time zones, as well as the Canadian 'Atlantic Time Zone' during the period of daylight saving time - September 15th. To complicate matters, the state of Hawaii, which is an hour behind Alaska during standard time, is at the same time as Alaska during daylight saving, since Hawaii doesn't follow the practice. Therefore, the zones being tested are:
UTC -3 -- Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT)
UTC -4 -- Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
UTC -5 -- Central Daylight Time (CDT)
UTC -6 -- Mountain Daylight Time (MDT)
UTC -7 -- Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)
UTC -8 -- Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT)
UTC -9 -- Hawaii Aleutian Standard Time (HAST)
UTC-0 -- Coordinated Universal Time (Greenwich time) (UTC)
UTC+1 -- Central European Time (CET) / UTC+2 -- Central European Summer Time (CEST)
Testing[edit source]
Took the liberty of adding CET, it's my timezone and the only one I know. This should probably be moved, copied or linked to on the template talk page. Duskey(talk)(blog) 17:12, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Project[edit source]
Glad to hear it. First priority is basically just to discuss the layout of the base template in manual of style talk. The more feedback and user comments we get, the better, though truth be told, I only see about 5-6 people interested in site maintenance and even we can't be everywhere at once. Duskey(talk)(blog) 17:08, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
Whoops, sorry, I just thought I'd add that since they had vandalized Tycho Curious along with the user page. I won't do that again. --Sparrowsong 17:56, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
