Eurydike Alkmaionida
Biography
Eurydike, the youngest of the adult line of the Alkmaionids, is also the one most directly affected by the time warp itself. The warp gave her new ability, mainly the ability to be at ease with electronics nonexistent in the time of the Alkmaionids, but in cost of sanity.

Eurydike Alkmaionida, born March 16 on the early 5th century B.C., is one of the first sims along with the other Alkmaionids to be introduced in the Time Paradox, and originally hails from the said house. Eurydike, is growing explosively int terms of skill, having mastered Sculpting, Invention, Writing Gardening, Fishing, Handiness and Logic, along with skills in other areas, including 8 points in Martial Arts, 3 points in Cooking, 7 points in Charisma, 7 points in Mixology, 3 points in Bass, 4 points in Guitar, and 1 point in Painting. Eurydike is also the main character of the prologue of the story, as the main character of the Alkmaionid chapter of the Fanon (although Eurydike nor any of the Alkmaionids actually had a significant role). Eurydike is of blood type AB.

Eurydike is also the first in the line of insane techy female sims, followed by Stratonike and Kallisto. Eurydike is the loyalist member, remaining in the Union due to her not making negative relationships with the remaining core members. Eurydike is a friend forever to Kallisto, Hypatia, and Lysistrata while Eurydike is severed from Stratonike.

Eurydike, alongside Stratonike has a tongue that easily insults others, although Kallisto kept around restraining that tongue, which didn't happen so well with Stratonike, and as a result of the Romance Heresy, and partly because of the initial insults, Stratonike was outside the sphere of influence, but Kallisto's reconciliatory tactics brought Stratonike back in, and Eurydike was also redeemed by canceling the little romance with Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus.

Plot[edit | edit source]

First Time Warp[edit | edit source]

All of the story starts off with the introduction of the Alkmaionidai, who have been overtaken by the warp, leaving them off in Sunset Valley. The warp has affected them to be adapted to modern life, and Eurydike was specially blessed with the ability to easily handle computers, at the cost of sanity. Alkmaionid life was very uneventful in comparison to the later families, sticking to themselves and largely isolated from the main town in general, Eurydike no exception to this, slowly building her skillset for her Science Career, alongside Chryseis. They would stay out of sight of most of the time, and by the time the Beauty 4 came into town and had a solid foundation, Eurydike, alongside the other Alkmaionids, passed away to old age. Hence, despite Eurydike starting the idea of generally skilled sim (over a specialist), Eurydike's obscurity kept her from making a major impact in the first time warp.

Second Time Warp[edit | edit source]

However, the Alkmaionids were once again introduced in the Second time warp, settling at the exactly the same spot that they lived in the first time warp. Unlike the previous time warp, the Alkmaionids had the secret of extended longevity, and they once again built up their skillset. Eurydike, due to her lack of contact with the newer sims such as Hypatia, Eurydike was not involved in the breakup of the Scholars' Alliance. Eurydike however would find companionship with a houseguest, Lysistrata, who shared Eurydike's insanity and skill with computers. This time however, they would be noticed when the fission of the Scholars' Alliance came to place, and when Stratonike and Kallisto broke off and created the Union of the Insane, the founding members invited both Lysistrata and Eurydike, firmly creating the Union of the Insane to stand up independent of the Scholars' Alliance.

Aftermath of the Romance Heresy and explosive skill growth[edit | edit source]

Ironically, Eurydike's ascension took place after the Romance Heresy: Although Eurydike was romantically interested in Gnaeus, Eurydike could not ignore the racial tension, since Eurydike's brother Kleisthenes had plenty of issues with Gnaeus, as well as the fact that Hypatia and Kallisto both were not interested in interacting with the Romaioi. With the extra energy that could not be spent in that direction, Eurydike's only vent in the academic monastery was to learn new skills, which Eurydike did in such as way that surprised even Hypatia and Kallisto. Even more so, Eurydike also hosted parties taking advantage of the superior cooking skills of the likes of Hypatia which was challenged only by the likes of Achaia or Philetairos, and use that to cement her position in the town, keeping people happy about their new rulers of sorts.

Eurydike's successes led to Kallisto endorsing the parties (although Kallisto did it for a different motive), and encouraged usage of parties to subvert public opinion in their favor. Kallisto was particularly interested in using the parties to further sow the seed for the eventual harvest that is to follow the Détente with Hypatia, although Kallisto also seems happy to host parties herself, since Kallisto's aloof attitude led to some negative attitude around the neighborhood.

Eurydike's romance life was very short-lived: Gnaeus Pompeius was an enemy of Kleisthenes who was Eurydike's brother, as well as the nominal enemy of the Union of the Insane technically hostile to the Romaioi in general. Eurydike simply complied with Kallisto and Kallistrata's suggestion to forget it, and Eurydike purchased the clean slate reward, keeping Eurydike clean. Eurydike's life was unchanged for the most part, as Kallisto and Kallistrata grew strict in the grip over the Union as a whole, keeping vigilant against any traces of romance. Eurydike being sealed from that area had only more skill growth as the path to take, and sooner or later became so skilled that Eurydike was a match even for Stratonike, or better worded exceeded Stratonike, a significant landmark since Stratonike was once viewed as that gateway between the rest and the "elect" of the likes of Kallisto, and Eurydike went over the 100 point threshold, being the first sim after the creation of the Church of Alexandros to do so. In fact, Eurydike effectively became Stratonike's rival.

Eurydike, now removed from the burden of romance, is a wholehearted supporter of the Church's agendas, and with greater connection (compared to Hypatia, that is) at the workplace, got the others such as her sister Chryseis to support the new construction: In fact, Chryseis was happy for Eurydike's success, even if Eurydike is with Kallisto who is ever so eager to smash romance.

Eurydike the Lifebringer[edit | edit source]

Soon, Eurydike was invited to a party hosted by Hector Smith, which started out rather uneventful until one of its participants, Artie Page, passed away without any warning. When it came to pass, it seemed like Hector's party was to be ruined. This turned into an opportunity when the Science facility (which was headed by both Eurydike and Hypatia) contacted Eurydike about the revival process. With that, Eurydike proceeded to revive Artie Page, along with Boyd Wainwright and Yumi Sekemoto, who started out as ghosts, although with Hypatia's ready supply of deathfishes they were quickly given a corporeal form, and after that a serving of rejuvenation potion for each of them.

Boyd, Yumi, and Artie celebrating newfound life.

Having done so, Boyd, Yumi, and Artie actively spread pro-church news, spreading the gospel of the Church, telling the masses to celebrate the Church's presence and its influence. Eurydike had successfully smothered any opposition and successfully subverted potentially hostile factors to the cause of the Church, and even led to the subversion of Blair Wainwright, dealing a crippling blow to Achaia and Antigone's heretic movement, even more so since both were apprehended before this came to pass.

For the change[edit | edit source]

Eurydike grew tired of her job as a Mad Scientist: Eurydike liked creating stuff, but then Hypatia and to a lesser extent, Polyxena have been long veterans of the job, and Hypatia even in her temporary demotion still earned a significantly higher wage than Eurydike did. Growing restless, Eurydike decided to exploit her Charisma skill and enlisted in the Politics career, according to Eurydike herself, because it was "for the lulz." On the serious side of the issue, Eurydike's transition marked the official formation of the Papal State, Eurydike representing the said State in the international level. Having an independent territory, Kallisto was entitled to a state, while Kallisto already carved up a sphere of influence in Sunset Valley.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Although not much of a trivia, Eurydike is NOT a historical character whatsoever. In fact, all the female characters originating from historical households are fictional, even Stratonike who has a hononym with historical figures.
  • Eurydike is technically the longest present character out of the Union of the Insane, appearing at the beginning of the first Time Warp. However, Eurydike was once considered only a lesser core member to begin with, since Eurydike actually died of old age in the first Time Warp, and the Eurydike in the Second Time Warp had no skills to begin with. However, Eurydike is now a full member of the Big 6.
  • Eurydike, when left alone, was known to inflict the "Humiliated" moodlet autonomously to Stratonike via unfriendly interactions, while the converse has not been true. Similar things could be said of Lysistrata and Hypatia, Lysistrata being the aggressor.
  • Eurydike is the only member of the Big 6 to lack either the Loner or the Unflirty trait. Likewise, Eurydike shares a common ground with Hypatia in that they lack a trait present in everyone else (Hypatia lacks the Insane trait)
