This is where Sims can get a job in the Science Career, attend Logic or Gardening classes.
Sims can also tour the science lab. If a Sims is collecting insects they can sell them as specimens to the lab. Donating insects is slightly more rewarding than selling them via the inventory, so it is worth the trip. Sims can WooHoo in these rabbit holes, but they might get caught by security and be asked to leave. This is also one of the properties Sims can partner with and own in The Sims 3. It's the most expensive but also the most profitable. If Ambitions is installed, the firefighter profession has a special disaster, which is a Space-Time Rift.
If a Sim gets the Oh My Ghost! opportunity, they can take a loved one's urn to the lab for testing and restore them as a playable ghost.
Science labs generate the following red map tag in-game:
Landgraab Industries Science Facility is the science lab of Sunset Valley.
Robot fish can only be caught in a pond in the back of the facility.
The lab also features a giant geodesic dome, possibly used for biological & ecological experiments, as trees are seen inside it; the dome however, is un-accessible.
Its symbol is a cog, but the science career symbol is an atom. A The Sims 2-style Servo personal robot makes an appearance; there is a golden statue of one in the entrance, which can be seen if the camera is at a favorable angle. Landgraab Industries Science Facility is (unofficially) property of the Landgraab Family, hence its name.
Science Lab is the name given to the Science Laboratory in Twinbrook. It is similar in appearance to the lab in Riverview, and like the labs in Riverview and Sunset Valley, a golden statue of Servo can be seen in the lobby. The lab is adjacent to a pair of old water towers, near Llama Corp Shipping Co, across the lake from the main portion of town.
Landgraab Marine Science Facility is the science lab of Bridgeport.
Unlike the previous science labs, its symbol is a dolphin rather than meshed cogs, and the entrance contains a large whale skeleton rather than the usual golden Servo. This lab, like the one in Sunset Valley, is presumably the property of the Landgraab Family, hence its name.
This Science lab also features a green-toned pool on one side that Sims can swim in, and a satellite dish found behind the building. Lastly, this lab also has its own subway station that links to the Bridgeport subway system.
