Shang Simla is a town/neighbourhood which is introduced in The Sims 3 World Adventures along with Champs Les Sims and Al Simhara. It is found in the SimVerse's equivalent of China and will feature activities and items that will compliment Chinese culture and architecture. Shang Simla is to be the hub for training Martial Arts, a new skill introduced in World Adventures.
The name "Shang Simla" may be referencing Shangri-La.
