Request for interpretation of consensus[edit source]

This forum thread has been sitting open for several months, and has gone two months without any new additions to it. Due to a conflict of interest I cannot call consensus for this one way or the other, so I would like another administrator or 'crat (preferably neutral) to determine whether a consensus has been reached and to state the outcome of the thread or, if consensus is not reached, to determine a proper course of action. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 07:27, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Issue is no longer relevant
Thread has been moved to a vote, so interpretation of consensus is no longer required. LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 17:54, June 30, 2014 (UTC)

Food Fiction: The Sims Feast[edit source]

Moved from The Sims Wiki talk:Admin Portal

Hi Sims admins,

I wanted to run a fun idea by you all to see if you can help us make it as fun of an idea as possible.

We've been running Food Fiction programs with various communities. Here is a list of all the ones we've done so far here .

With the release of The Sims 4 upcoming, we'd like to plan to do a Food Fiction with you all!

For each program, we start off with a blog post on the community, inviting users to nominate their favorite dishes in various categories. We'd need admin help promoting that post as well as help deciding what those categories should be. We think it could be as simple as an appetizer, main dish, dessert, drink, and some extra fun category. Here's an example of that from our Adventure Time Food Fiction.

One idea we had would be to ask the users to design their feast, create the feast in game, and submit a screen shot of their party menu laid out (can be from any version of the Sims). We think this makes it a little harder to submit a menu, but definitely more fun.

Finally, we'll take the most popular nominees in each category and put them into polls by category on a post on Recipes Wikia. Here's an example from the same Adventure Time FF.

If you all like the idea, we'd like to save it for the mid-August/early September time frame. That would give us some time to also try to get a prize for the winner! Let us know what you think about the ideas and categories.

Thanks!

Rudeness on IRC[edit source]

i would like to report ecks and mrc for being very rude

i ask for help in getting sims 2 complete edition and this happened

<mojo_joejoe> how do i activate a copy of sims 2 on origin?
<mojo_joejoe> answer me please
<ecks> answers are $1.99/min
<ecks> visa accepted, mastercard too
<MrC> Bitcoin is also accepted at the rate of 2 bitcents per hour.
<MrC> s/hour/minute/
<Danny> mojo_joejoe, contact ea support
<MrC> Or, 1 bitcoin per hour.
<Danny> that's as far as our help goes.
<mojo_joejoe> thank u danny for actually trying to help but can i activate sims 2 without talking to the ea rag heads at their support?
<Danny> also, feel free to check out the FAQ article EA support has on the ultimate edition
<Danny> no
<Danny> you can only activate on your own games released from 2009 onwards
<mojo_joejoe> that is sad thank u danny for helping
<Danny> TS2 was released five ears before that,
<Danny> so go on ea support
<Danny> you're welcome, but next time, try to find the answers yourself
<mojo_joejoe> to ecks and mrc i find that u r very rude and i am going to report u to whoever is in charge here

i am offended and i do not think ecks and mrc should be allowed to help people and i hope whoever is in charge here will see this—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.221.255.98 (talkcontribs) 19:17 19 July 2014 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

I cannot see any hint of rudeness in the chat conversation. Generally, we do ask people to Google their answers before they ask, just to avoid redundancy in answering questions that have already been answered. Also - if the people that respond to you are correct, reporting them usually isn't of any good. ecks was not being rude, Danny was not being rude, nobody was being rude. Being unhelpful does not equal being rude in the slightest. Therefore, I decline any sort of administrative action. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 19:33, July 19, 2014 (UTC)
I don't see anything rude or inappropriate about they said, they were simply joking. You shouldn't take offense to little things like this. I will not be pursuing any administrative action either. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 20:07, July 19, 2014 (UTC)
I have to agree. Ecks and mrc may have been joking and even of no real help to you, but they were not rude. I'm sorry that you took offense from their light-heartened responses. From your report, it is hard to tell if there was a long time between their jokes and David's response. It is interesting that they didn't respond after David started to respond. Template:Broken-face[edit source]

Hi, I was trying to edit this template so that it would be able for use by fanon Sims who use a broken face template, but it didn't work so I reverted my edits. If no one else things this is relevant then that's okay, it doesn't have to be used for fanon Sims. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:55, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

You were trying to get the template to categorize fanon Sims in Category:Sims who use a broken face template (fanon), correct? If that's the case, it is working now. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:07, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, that was the case. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:28, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Issue is resolved
The template now categorizes fanon contents properly.

Fanon Mannequins and fanon Bigfoots[edit source]

Has anyone else noticed that all fanon Mannequins and Bigfoots automatically fall under the category for normal Sims even though they aren't normal life states.

I am familiar with this cause, but I don't know how to fix it. Could someone please help?

P.S. I know that Mannequins aren't really an official life-state due to not being part of normal gameplay, but you can hardly call Mannequins normal. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:55, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Can you list some examples of fanon Mannequins and fanon Bigfoots (bigfoots? bigfeet?) please? -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:10, July 21, 2014 (UTC)
Also, I wouldn't call mannequin a life state, as aside from skin tone there's nothing that distinguishes a mannequin Sim from a regular Sim. It would be better to treat mannequins as a separate skintone category, similar to Category:Light-skinned Sims, Category:Dark-skinned Sims, etc. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:12, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

First of all, I correct myself, only the Mannequins fanon category is like that (Nikel23 modified my edit on the Bigfoot article stating that it was only supposed to cover the bigfoot life state in general) and this was potentially not the case for fanon Bigfoots to start with.

-- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:27, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

The reason why mannequin was listed as "normal Sim" is because there was never any instance of mannequins in this wiki before, and the creation of the page was rather recent. I don't know how mannequins elaborate themselves. I'm not sure which category a mannequin should fall under; life state or skin? Life state mechanics in The Sims 2 were never elaborate. Nikel Talk Vote! 08:07, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yes it was, I had to create it myself! :) -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 08:13, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Sims whose life state parameter is a mannequin will have the Category:Mannequins (fanon) instead of Normal Sims now. This is limited to fanon namespace only. There aren't premade mannequins anyway. Nikel Talk Vote! 08:29, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

I thought it would be the case, but that's alright because it's exactly what I would have done, and most people I'm sure would have done the same. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 08:32, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

Issue is resolved
{{Sim}} now categorizes mannequins to the proper life state category.

Requesting bot flag for K6kaBOT[edit source]

This should really go on the "Bureaucrats" noticeboard (if one existed, which it doesn't), but I would like to request that a bot flag be given to K6kaBOT, per LiR's suggestion that I use a flagged bot to make my AWB edits, so I don't fill up recent changes.

Concerned of the bot? It's already in operation on another wiki.

Any bureaucrat response would be appreciated. Thanks. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 21:19, July 22, 2014 (UTC)

Administrative Projects[edit source]

I'm interested in seeing if this is something that could be revived. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 21:06, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

My $0.02 is that the Administrative Projects as a whole should be retired. The feature was never widely embraced, and its existence now is little more than a formality. I'd rather we focus on cleaning up projects as a whole, and encourage users (admins and non-admins alike) to join them on a voluntary basis. If it's decided that we should keep Admin Projects, we'd probably need to see some changes to make the projects more effective and make it more likely for people to participate in them. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 21:11, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

Chat troll: SHOOPderWOOP[edit source]

SHOOPderWOOP (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log)

On chat on 31 July around 3.15pm UTC, SHOOPderWOOP logged on to chat. At first he acted like a fairly normal user, but around 3.32pm UTC, said user began abusing chat regulations. Namely, he swore, example: "F******************CK" and called other online users names: "k6 is a nancy" as well as saying completely random, irrelevant, and above all rude things "enormous dickwad", "cheesy vag", "coco balls". He also stated wishes for "Wikia's main offices to burn down", and also said the "The Sims is for pussies". Furthermore, SHOOPderWOOP also said that he did not care about the rules, "I can say whatever I want", despite K6ka and myself attempting to stop his trolling. Ultimately K6 kicked, then banned SHOOPderWOOP from chat, but I would like to request an investigation into the actions of this user. WikiBuilder1147 (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiMemory AlphaMemory GammaWhy I'm here in the first place) 15:49, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, I know I shouldn't have done that, but hear me out first. The chat froze on my side (I think it did the same for K6ka and WikiBuilder1147), so any entries I made weren't showing up on my screen, so I thought you guys wouldn't have seen it either. but apparently you tried to stop me, but i didnt see the warnings that u claimed to have given because of my frozen connection.
Fine, I know I've been blocked on the chat, I'll do my time. —ShoopDerWoop 16:17, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
That really is no excuse to try and disrupt chat. You can do that on your own test wiki, but not to take advantage of a glitch, which didn't even work. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 16:24, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
Soo, what now? I still don't understand WikiBuilder's request for investigation. Investigation of what? 10 edits so far? —ShoopDerWoop 16:32, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
Evidence that may have led to this outburst. Since you are a regular at The Last Stand Wiki, and I'm an admin there, I can easily tell from your behavior there that this was probably bound to happen, I just didn't expect it to be sooner. I have already kicked you from The Last Stand Wiki chat for inappropriate behavior. You've uploaded images with crudely drawn genitals on them as well, and you've made comments that had genitals drawn out of ASCII characters.
Transferring inappropriate behavior cross-wiki-wise is very unlawful, and it can look bad on you on all of Wikia, if you are seen as disruptive on not just one but two wikis. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 16:41, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
Ohhhh, well then, will one of those box thingies be added to this thread? you know, the ones that say if this has been resolved or not.. —ShoopDerWoop 16:47, July 31, 2014 (UTC)
Not fully resolved. Keeping this open, in case any more users have evidence or comments to provide. Once you can get back on chat with a different attitude and possessing different behavior than the one you used to have, one that is appropriate, we can close this.
As a side note, being involved in the situation, it's best if an uninvolved administrator closed this case. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 16:50, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I have been watching this discussion from the start because I was not present to see the incident. I agree that there needs to be some more time to see how this goes. Having said that, take k6ka's advice to take the chat block and then come back with a different behavior when the block is over. That will probably resolve this matter then and there. Icemandeaf (talk) 16:58, July 31, 2014 (UTC)

Info box problem[edit source]

When my revisions of Jonah Powers and Mickey Dosser were modified, they were unintentionally added to the category Sims from the Sims 2 (base game).

I had to paste the info boxes from my revisions over the top. So that they would be in the category Sims from the University. For some reason if the contents of the info box are placed in a specific order, they will be added to the Sims 2 base game category instead of the Sims 2 University one.

Does anyone know how to fix the info box so that these problems won't occur? -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:05, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

Parameter order would have nothing to do with this problem. It looks like you're forgetting to add the <game> parameter in {{Sim2}}. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 00:38, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
No I didn't. It was when Nikel23 tried to tidy my revision up, but in doing so Mickey and Jonah were added to the category Sims from the Sims 2 base game. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:45, August 6, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. Nikel23 changed the infobox from {{Unisim}} (which automatically sets the game to The Sims 2: University) to {{Sim2}} (which doesn't) and he forgot to include the <game> parameter. The parameter was empty so the template defaulted to putting them in the base game category. But, it's fixed now. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 00:48, August 6, 2014 (UTC)

This user is a confirmed sockpuppet of User:ILoveSims5. What more can I say? -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:05, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

I agree. VeronavilleLover's profile appears to be consistent with other sockpuppets of ILoveSims5, such as the user living "In Our Dreams". This user's way of writing is also the same as other sockpuppets of ILS5, notably the use of caps in Almost Every Word. ―WikiBuilder1147 (Infinite HistoriesGalactic CruciblesThe Sims WikiHallows MaleficentWhy I'm here in the first place) 01:11, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
I agree that this is highly a sockpuppet of ILS5. I will keep an eye out for this user in the mean time because I don't know how to verify this myself. If another admin feels this is indeed sockpuppetry, then they can block the user. I won't disagree at all. - Icemandeaf (talk) 01:23, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
I think you should just block this user because they are clearly a sockpuppet of ILoveSims5. I've seen admins block users for months, so I know what I'm talking about, when I say that it's best if you just go ahead and block VeronavilleLover.
I could give you some suggestions on how to do this, or you could copy the details from her last sockpuppet block. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:29, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
I realize that, and that is the reason that I am going to wait for another admin unless this user gives me a reason beyond a doubt. - Icemandeaf (talk) 01:32, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
What exactly do you mean? That user has already given me a reason beyond a doubt, and by the sounds of it, WikiBuilder as well. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:35, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
I mean that this is something that I am entirely new to. I don't know a whole lot about the whole ILS5 issue, so I can't just jump in and do what you are asking. It will take me time before I see the exact same thing you are seeing. That is why I said that if there is another admin who blocks the user, that is fine by me. Until then I have to dig into the issue to verify without a doubt that this is indeed sockpuppetry before I go ahead with the block. - Icemandeaf (talk) 01:46, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
Well, you can see her issue under Nikel's sandbox or C.Syde's but it is summarize. And I told her to stop this madness and add a note that users are trying to ignore her and had enough of her meddling. ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 01:59, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
@ Icemandeaf - Okay. Well although I've never been an actual admin (other than on a test wiki) before, I know a fair bit about the whole ILS5 issue.
Just a note - I have learned from my mistakes and I have come a long way from my first RfA. I am no longer fixated on ISL5. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 02:01, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────@ThePeculiarMe - That is what I am digging into because this issue is pretty new to me. I was hoping there was another admin who would come in, but it doesn't seem to be happening at the moment. In the mean time I am looking at everything I can get my hands on.

Thank you C.Syde65. I realize that I am not so quick to act, but it will be handled as correctly as I can if there is no other admin to come into the picture. - Icemandeaf (talk) 02:06, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Icemandeaf has blocked VeronavilleLover. In this case she's an obvious sock of ILS5. But in the future, please remember that not all administrators are knowledgeable of every block and warning issued on the wiki at all times. I think Icemandeaf made a good decision by waiting for more information before blocking the user, even if it appeared to be an obvious sock. I would encourage everyone to be patient; blocks will be issued to sock puppets in a timely manner, but they're hardly emergency situations that require immediate action. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 03:10, August 30, 2014 (UTC)
I would say a similar thing. Icemandeaf is still learning about banning and not used to it yet. Take your time when you're in doubt. Anyway, for future ILoveSims5 reference, check my sandbox since her socks are pretty obvious. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:21, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Sims2fan1998[edit source]

Issue is no longer relevant

I'm sure this user means well, but I would recommend that another user would check in-game to check whether the information he contributed is correct. Me, Nikel23 and probably a couple of other editors have undone many of his edits, but he keeps adding them back. I will be able to confirm whether or not his contributions are correct, however I probably won't be able to check until next week. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 02:34, September 22, 2014 (UTC)

I have left a note on their talk page regarding the edit warring. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 02:38, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
I just want to add that I didn't exactly mean to contribute edit warring on social class townies. C.Syde started undoing the edits, but he missed some, so I followed. To resolve this issue, I suggest that we should start discussing with him because at the moment we do not know which statement is correct. Sims2fan1998 could be persistent if we continue edit warring without clear explanation, hence my advice to discuss. Nikel Talk Vote! 12:01, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
I agree to that. Personally I think someone should check inside the game just to see if Simfan1998's statement is correct. The main reason I undid them is because there was no clear evidence that the information was correct.
I could check inside the game myself, but I'll probably have to wait for a few more days first. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:38, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

It seems that this user either doesn't know how to use a talk page or is choosing to ignore them. It seems that any attempt to resolve without edit warring hasn't been successful. I am almost to the point of thinking that blocking might be the only thing that will get this user's attention. (Hopefully!) -- Icemandeaf (talk) 21:29, September 23, 2014 (UTC)
The user has already been blocked in the past for sockpuppetry - [3]. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 21:34, September 23, 2014 (UTC)
That why I said hopefully. It could just be that this user just doesn't realize the disruption that is being caused, or it could be that it is intentional. -- Icemandeaf (talk) 21:39, September 23, 2014 (UTC)
If nothing else has gotten the user's attention, I'm sure a block will. That is if they continue to "edit war". -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:56, September 24, 2014 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── It takes two users to start an edit way. Fyi. I also don't see why you are reverting his edits. A simple check with SimPE shows that they are good faith. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 07:37, September 24, 2014 (UTC)

In this case, it doesn't require SimPE to check whether most of his edits are correct, it requires the game and Apartment Life. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 08:30, September 24, 2014 (UTC)

Because this user has already been blocked for sockpuppetry. I don't see anything that says that the block got the user's attention. One could argue that the user hasn't make a sockpuppet again, but it could have just been a onetime thing as well. -- Icemandeaf (talk) 16:10, September 24, 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Well, okay. I really hope we can resolve this matter in a much less complicated manner. I have some things to say.

  1. Sims2fan1998 is known to have engaged in an edit warring with me previously. He might not be accustomed to the wiki yet, which might explain his behavior of edit warring to prove his point.
  2. He was warned not to engage in further edit warring, but I believe a better way to resolve this is to tell him to start a discussion regarding the matter, like what LiR did when he had an edit war with me. He hardly responds his messages, but with the second option, it can show whether he ignores resolutions (not warning) and remains persistent.
  3. What actually started this edit warring? From what I understand, C.Syde began undoing his edits because he was uncertain of the validity of the statements. That's not a good reason to undo someone's revision. If you are uncertain, you need to check it, discuss about it, or find the proof, but not undo it completely. Bookmark it if necessary should you need to check it later.
  4. I actually checked in game, and he didn't make false statement. These social class townies do work in Culinary if you just summon them or check them with SimPE, but their careers will be randomized when they become a neighbor or roommate.

This is my input, and I'm trying to say Sims2fan1998 didn't give incorrect information. Nikel Talk Vote! 13:12, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

Assume good faith as always, but with regards to what Nikel said about bookmarking, you can use Special:Following or Special:Watchlist too. If you add a page to your watchlist, the watchlist will automatically list any recent edits made to that page. It's a widely used feature on Wikipedia, but Wikia really messed it up with Special:Following. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 19:22, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Okay, well I wasn't sure if it was a false statement. I just wanted a trustworthy editor to check to see if they could confirm whether the statement was true. I'm not saying that I didn't exactly believe Sims2fan1998, and I was assuming good faith. I just needed evidence that he was right all along. So problem solved, I guess. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:28, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Fine until someone makes a third revert. Is that still a concern? --k6ka (talk | contribs) 22:40, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
@C.Syde65: I feel like you're not understanding the concept of Assume Good Faith. Part of the principle of AGF is that you assume that facts given by a user acting in good faith are correct unless there is a sufficient reason to believe otherwise. The issue in this case has been that Sims2fan hasn't given a proper source for their information, so it's difficult if not impossible in some cases to prove that a given fact they state is indeed true. But this wiki has always been very laissez-faire about enforcing source citation (except as it apples to the UGP), so an action taken against a user posting information without a source can have the appearance of not assuming good faith. When you say something like you "wanted a trustworthy editor to check," it indicates that another editor is not trustworthy, which itself runs contrary to the principle of AGF. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 22:42, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I understand the primary concept of Assume Good Faith, but I might have failed to assume it this time. I just didn't want to take the risk of walking away and leaving unsourced information that was possibly incorrect on a page. Also the fact that the user responded through edit warring was just not a good look. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:50, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Ignorantia juris non excusat (Latin for: "ignorance of the law does not excuse") is a sure-fire newbie-biter. Newbie-biting is a failure to assume good faith. A notification on their talk page usually draws their attention to the fact that edit warring is not permissible, rather than a block out of the blue. Warn first, then sanctions follow. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 22:56, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
I understand what you're saying C.syde, and to an extent I agree, at least as far as it concerns leaving incorrect information up on the wiki. Some of the fault in this situation might rest in the fact that we don't more stringently require sources on material added to the wiki. But, since the source is the game itself, it's difficult to provide a good citation. This might be a matter worthy of additional discussion elsewhere. In any case, however, there is a difference between questioning the validity of a statement and questioning the validity because of the person who made the statement. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 22:59, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
@K6ka, the problem is, we did leave them a warning about it. I would say, in this case, that this user isn't acting in bad faith but just isn't comfortable yet with our policies or how we conduct ourselves. Additionally, reverting his/her edits seems to make him/her defensive, as if they're being attacked. That's just my read the of the situation, I might be completely wrong about it. The question is how lenient we're willing to be for a new user, and how we make sure a new user becomes familiar with our rules. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 23:02, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
Well, now that another user has confirmed that was he's saying is true, I can safely believe the information Sims2fan1998 provided. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:06, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

It looks proper in my browser. Perhaps you need to clear your browser's cache so the image will be refreshed. Nikel Talk Vote! 11:12, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
I've had this issue on other wikis, and deleting the old version does not help. The image is cached on other servers, and purging doesn't always work. You need to wait for the cache to be cleared, which usually takes about 24 hours. Sometimes though, if you're using Chrome.... well, Chrome is terrible when it comes to the cache. There are lots of bits in the cache that you can't clear and Chrome won't let you clear, so sometimes images appear to show the old version indefinitely even when everyone else sees the new version. I discovered this while developing Game guide:How to delete a Sim correctly in my user sandbox, and Chrome kept showing me this outdated image. I deleted the old version but it kept showing up in my browser for weeks. Then I tried loading the page on Firefox on the same computer. Bam! New version. Tried again in Chrome. Old version. Kinda annoying. A lot of complaints regarding Chrome's bad caching system were sent to Google, but the Chrome Development Team never fixed it. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 12:22, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
I've just gone back and checked, and apparently it has been refreshed. It took much longer to refresh than normal, but it has been refreshed, so problem solved. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:38, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

Just so you know, I happened to run into a fanon Celeste Capp written by MontyandCappfamilles. The subject of the fanon seems to have a connection to "Fanon:Christina Capp" which belonged to an indefinetely blocked user TheSmustleDance.

The reason I suspect this is largely due to the fact that the fanon Sim "Celeste Capp" is the sister of "Christina Capp". It says so in the article.

-- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 10:41, September 25, 2014 (UTC)

Looking at the deleted revisions, "Christina Capp" does not mention "Celeste Capp" at all. They are both female teen Sims living in Veronaville. They have the same parents and same hair, eye, and skin color. They are both fit. The "Christina Capp" fanon has no text written; "Celeste Capp" does. Looking at their userpage, they seem to have omitted a lot of their giveaway userboxes, but they kept the "owns Sims games" ones. [4] --k6ka (talk | contribs) 10:52, September 25, 2014 (UTC)
Okay. Well I wasn't able to view the "Christina Capp" fanon because it was already deleted. If the "Celeste Capp" fanon did not mention "Christina Capp", I would not have suspected that these users might be the same.
I still suspect that these users "might" be the same person, though one would have to do a check user to be certain. :|
P.S. What I meant to say was that it said so in the article "Celeste Capp". -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:01, September 25, 2014 (UTC)
My suspicions have increased. This user has left two messages on my Ella Capulet fanon page, implying that they could take a liking to this fanon Sim of mine.
TheSmustleDance declared themselves to be a fan of "Ella Capulet" on their userpage before they were blocked. And both users share an interest in Pleasantview and Veronaville. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:29, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

I just wanted to alert the admins that I noticed that Asher's account has been globally disabled by wiki. A month ago, CookieMonster's account was also globally disabled by wiki.

All the contents of Cookie's user page were deleted and replaced with the retired template. I was wondering whether it would be okay to do the same with Asher's.

I was wondering if it was really necessary to keep Asher's name highlighted in green? I mean she's no longer active, and that's what happened with A morris' username when she retired.

Her account has been disabled, not blocked. There's a difference -- you can voluntarily have your account disabled, but you can re-enable it during a 30-day period. After that 30-day period, your account is permanently closed. Also, it should be "disabled by Wikia", not "Wiki". Wiki is not a proper noun. --I am k6ka Talk to me! Requesting sysop flag for K6kaBOT[edit source]

Issue is resolved

Some time ago, LiR (or someone on the administrative team, other than me of course) suggested that I use K6kaBOT to make my AWB-cleanup edits to avoid flooding recent changes. He also told me the bot was entitled to having the sysop flag, because I was an admin myself. I declined, but the biggest reason for declining was my lack of experience with bots at the time. Sure, I knew about bot emergencies and what to do and what the bot flag did, but I didn't really know how to operate one myself. Now that K6kaBOT has scanned almost every article on the wiki (and every fanon), making almost 4,000 edits in just three months, and fixing thousands of typos and syntax errors, I feel that I now have sufficient experience to operate a bot... that at least doesn't malfunction and blank every single page. I would now like to request that K6kaBOT be given the administrator flag by a bureaucrat.

Any relevant response would be appreciated. Thanks. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 11:44, October 2, 2014 (UTC)

I was wondering, if there was really any point in having a comment like this on my fanon page? According to the internet, when you translate the comment, it says "How are you?" While readers have the right to leave comments on other people's fanon pages, I feel that perhaps this type of comment is completely unnecessary. I mean it has no value or relation to the fanon page in question.

If this comment has no value, or connection to the fanon page it was left on, I'd request that the comment is deleted. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:54, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

The comment may be pointless, but it's also harmless. I don't think it's the job of administrators to censor content more than absolutely necessary. User:ILoveSims5 socks[edit source]

Issue is resolved

MathLover is the latest sockpuppet of ILoveSims5, and I have lost count on how many socks the user has created. I confirmed this with a CheckUser request sent to Wikia Staff. In addition to confirming the two sockpuppets, I got the following message:

Hi K6ka,

Thanks for writing to Wikia. Yep, those two users are the same person. I have thrown a roadblock up for this user, and hopefully they'll get the message in short order. If they do not, I have a few more tools at my disposal, so just keep me informed about it.

If there are questions, let me know!

— Andrew Naslund, Community Manager

If there are any more socks sighted, go to Special:Contact/general and ask for this same person. You can link to this discussion thread if needed. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 20:06, October 7, 2014 (UTC)

A list of her socks can be found in mine and Nikel's sandboxes (though mine is probably more up to date).
But I thought the plan was that we didn't report or block anymore ILS5 sockpuppets, because if we don't let her know we're on to her, than she might stop creating countless socks. I appreciate you reporting her to the community managers (I reported her to wikia staff), but what's to stop her creating another sockpuppet. She thought she'd finally tricked us (well I know for one thing she hadn't tricked me) but now she's probably just going to create more sockpuppets. I get the idea that it's almost like a game to her.
Well, now that she's blocked, can someone please delete all her comments from my fanon pages, since I don't want messages belonging to a blocked ILS5 sockpuppet on my fanon pages. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 20:55, October 7, 2014 (UTC)
(edit conflict) As stated in the staff message, Wikia Staff are intervening and they will probably have more luck bringing an end to this sockpuppetry madness. Take Corymach, for instance. Despite several blocks, range blocks, and lots of administrator mindpower, more sockpuppets were created to evade the original block until we finally got Wikia Staff to intervene. Only then did the issue get resolved, and that's why there are no Corymach socks to catch today. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 21:01, October 7, 2014 (UTC)

Exactly this. If the edit/comment doesn't do any harm to the wiki, then there is no harm in keeping it, even if the user that made the edit/comment is blocked. This is also an extension of AGF, in a way; each edit should be judged on its own merits, not judged by the person that made it. A vandal can make a good edit, just as a well-intentioned user can make a bad edit. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 04:41, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
I just managed to avoid two edit conflicts here. I guess - or rather know - that the comment isn't harmful. I have seen admins completely wiping out every contribution a blocked user has done to make it seem as though they never existed, before. But seeing the valid question does have it's good points, and given Wogan's opinion, it doesn't really matter if these comments aren't deleted. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:44, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
Those are special situations, if the edits are particularly harmful. Each situation is different, so making comparisons between incidents isn't a good idea usually.

I honestly don't know but I've got a couple of things to say:
  • Since we didn't alter anything its probably fair to say its on wikia's end, not ours
  • This part is particularly interesting: I tried to edit it and there was no edit button. The same thing happened when I tried to revert to a previous edit. Perhaps most interesting is this, however: I performed a rollback to the version we had in October, and the header not only is unchanged but its as if the edit didn't even happen, with no record in the logs. Hmm, interesting. Accounts can be disabled on user request or by Wikia's discretion, and can't be re-enabled after 30 days of being disabled, while a global block is involuntary, usually used for Terms of Use violations, and can be lifted if the matter is discussed with Wikia and they happen to agree to it.
I'm wondering what exactly happened here.... --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 23:12, January 3, 2015 (UTC)
Apparently if she were free to re-request for her admin rights to be reinstated, then she'd have to have her rollback rights automatically reinstated first. TheSims23 had rollback rights prior to requesting admin-ship, and when her admin rights were revoked, her rollback rights were not reinstated. Thus she would not be eligible for re-requesting admin-ship, unless a bureaucrat gave her back her rollback rights. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 02:41, January 30, 2015 (UTC)
While this discussion is closed I'll just say that there is nothing that forces admins to keep rollback after retirement and that she wouldn't be eligible for reinstatement due to activity, and nothing says an admin can't be reinstated due to forgoing the right to rollback after retirement. ђ talk 02:54, January 30, 2015 (UTC)

Community discussions need to be resolved[edit source]

Issue is resolved
All threads closed at last! --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 11:56, March 6, 2015 (UTC)

We have several open community discussion threads that are in need of moderation, prompting or archival. Because I am an active party in most of these discussions, I feel it would not be proper for me to address the issues. Can some other administrators help in resolving these threads?

The threads I'm specifically referring to are:

Any administrator who wants to take up the task of addressing these threads should consider first, whether the thread has reached a natural consensus or not. If so, the thread should be closed and the consensus adopted. If not, the admin should consider whether a vote might be in order, and then determine how to best structure that vote. If a consensus isn't reached and a vote would not be appropriate, an administrator should consider closing the thread and marking it as not resolved. Or, if a thread is not resolved but does not seem to have reached an impasse, a simple thread bump might be appropriate (to attempt to jump-start the discussion). -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 19:07, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

I'll pitch in and close one of these discussions. Beds (talk - blog) 19:34, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

Edith Lawson.jpg[edit source]

Issue is resolved

This image has been in the gallery of the page Edith Lawson for a really long time, but earlier today, I found that this is actually an image instead, of another hobby instructor Noelle Dennis.

So basically this image now needs to be re-named to "Noelle Dennis in-game" or something similar. Apparently there already is a jpeg image named "Noelle Dennis". -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:36, March 22, 2015 (UTC)

Renamed to File:Noelle Dennis in game.jpg -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 03:52, March 22, 2015 (UTC)

C.Syde deleted something i made, it was on the Prudence Crumplebottom page about a fake one in Belladonna Cove, and he deleted what it took me about 30 minutes to make. I warned him and i have decided to come and post here, i think only Administrators and Moderators or special people should only be alowed to edit. C.Syde acted in good faith and did nothing wrong in this situation. Additionally, have blocked Bkajnl for four years, for being underage. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 09:36, April 20, 2015 (UTC)

{{Metabox}} update — need extra eyes for bugs[edit source]

Issue is resolved
It's been several months and no issues to report! --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 11:38, June 19, 2015 (UTC)

Hello administrators.

Last night, {{Metabox}} was recently updated to match with the wiki's new theme, after being developed at {{Metabox2}}. Please do not delete Metabox2, as it is needed to credit the authors!

What we do need are eyes to keep a lookout for bugs with the new template. We can't expect templates to be 100% flawless, just good enough for them to be used in most obvious circumstances. If you do see a bug, leave it at Forum:New_Metabox_development#Bug_reports.

Thanks, --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 13:29, April 4, 2015 (UTC)
