The three base game freelancer options.
The freelancer career was added to The Sims 4 via Patch 79. Sims don't progress through career levels but instead select an agency that helps connect them to individual gigs. There are four different trades available:
- Digital artist
- Programmer
- Writer
- Fashion photographer[TS4:MS]
The freelancer career functions similarly to skill careers in The Sims 3 in that there is no workplace. Sims work on their own time from home, and level up after doing a certain number of gigs.
Good-natured gigs (such as creating art for a charity) will raise a Sim's reputation[GF], whereas bad-natured gigs (such as forging art for a suspicious client) will lower their reputation.
