Trap
A tomb is not complete without a challenge! Traps can be either disarmed or not disarmable. There are 4 types of active traps: Fire, Electricity, Darts and Steam. The fire- and electricity-traps are dangerous to Sims and the darts-trap causes Sims to fall asleep. The steam-trap is the least dangerous trap, as it only can soak Sims, which causes a minor mood decrease. Movable statues can disarm the traps if they're firing continuously.

Switches
The Tomb of Discovery
Switches are a puzzle element in tombs. Sims must activate them to reach unexplored areas of a tomb. Switches can be found in holes, dive wells and floor panels. The torches can also be levers that, when pulled on activate a switch.

The Pyramid of the Burning Sands
Tomb holes can be found in walls or floors. Sims can inspect one to see if it has a switch in it. Tomb holes also can contain treasure or bugs that scare curious Sims.

The Tomb of the Rock
There is two different versions of a floor switch. The first has a footstep symbol and can be stepped on once to activate. The second has a gear symbol. Stepping on the panel will activate the switch but it requires constant pressure to remain active, once a Sim steps off the panel the switch is deactivated. Movable statues comes handy to keep floor switches with gear symbols on.

The Pyramid of the Sky
Keystones
The Great Sphinx
Keystones are used to unlock doors and treasure chests by putting them in a keystone lock with the same shape as the keystone.

Hatsheput's Quarters
There are 3 different shapes of a keystone that can be found in tombs: the crescent shaped keystone, the heart shaped keystone and the star shaped keystone.

The Temple of Death
A skeleton keystone can be purchased at the Special Merchant for level 2 Visa and 400 ancient coins and can open any of the shaped keystone locks. A key shaped keystone can only be found by accepting adventures and unlocking special tombs.

The Cooper Quarry
Dive Wells
The Sanctuary of Horus
Dive Wells are one of the most exciting tomb objects. Sims can use them to become Soaked, which makes them immune to fire, or to put themselves out when already on fire. A hidden switch can be set at the bottom of dive wells. Sometimes treasures can be found at the bottom. Dive Wells can also be portals to other areas of a tomb. Sims will go to the bottom, and then emerge from another dive well. This lets adventurers enter island tombs and other inaccessible areas.

Champs Les Sims tomb lots
The dive well can be coloured (with a limited selection of colours), to make it fits it's atmosphere, like blood red for a fire tomb, or murky green for a swamp tomb.

The Tomb of Isael
Movable Statues
The Tomb of Necteaux
Movable Statues are another classic adventure game element. They can be either pushed or pulled from the direction of the Sim.

The Faerie Tomb
They can be moved on top of traps to disarm them, or cleverly pushed through a maze to unveil a formerly blocked path. Their most common use is to be paired with a floor switch. Some floor switches are triggered when a Sim is on them, but deactivate as soon as a Sim steps off of them. This means a Sim must push a statue on top of them in order to keep the floor switch depressed. Some statues must be inspected before a Sim is able to push them.

The Forgotten Burial Mound
Sarcophagi
The Chateau du Landgraab
Sarcophagi in Al Simhara can contain mummies, that would try to curse Sims who is stealing it's belongs. Other sarcophagi can contain treasure and even be slept in. Some sarcophagi will pull the Sim who is checking the sarcophagus in and let them try the past time's simulator!

Hidden objects
Shang Simla tomb lots
Hidden doors can be found by using interactions on random walls. They are 2x2 spaces square. If the hidden door wouldn't open, the Sim has to push the door to rotate it. High athletic skill is recommended to push the hidden doors.

Dong Huo's Treasure Trove
Stairways from The Sims 3 can be hidden now. Hidden stairways can be revealed by activating a switch.

Hot Springs Cave
Mummies
Mummies are very nasty, as they'll curse Sims who are up to fight it. They can cause a curse or death to Sims.

Giant Boulders
Some boulders are too large to clear with a pick axe. They require a special artifact, Pangu's Axe, from Shang Simla to clear. Clearing these boulders can give the Sim access to previously blocked areas of a tomb.

Lot Assignment

There are two kinds of tomb lot assignments in Edit Town and Create a World, Tomb and Hidden Tomb. These assignments are locked from use outside of the The Sims 3: World Adventures sub-neighborhoods in-game. The tomb lot assignment generates a tomb map tag, and it attracts explorer NPCs.
