Bars are a group of similar lot assignments introduced in The Sims 3: Late Night and The Sims 4.

The Sims 3

Gameplay

These venues attract celebrities and serve drinks provided by the Mixology skill. Bars are represented by blue beer bottle map tags. These are the lowest class of juice-selling venue, but also the most inclusive. Few pre-made bars have bouncers, and the price of food and drink in bars is very affordable. Each type of bar offers an exclusive preset selection of Mixology drinks. Bars attract Sims with certain kinds of traits and repel Sims with other traits.

Bars open at 11 AM and close at 3 AM the next day, making them open considerably earlier and longer than other types of juice-selling venues. All bars feature stages for bands to play on at gigs.

Dive Bar

Busiest days: Every weekday.

Dive Bars are the poorest of all the bars, and the maximum star an NPC will have there is 1. Dive Bars attract Athletic Sims, Daredevils, Party Animals, and Sims that Love the Outdoors. These bars also attract Vampires and Sims in the Criminal career. Bookworms, Cowards, Snobs, Loners and Sims that are Shy or Hate the Outdoors will avoid this bar.

Local Watering Hole

Busiest days: Everyday.

Better than Dive Bars, Local Watering Holes have people with 1 to 3 celebrity status. These bars attract Vampires, Slobs, Party Animals, and Sims that are Hot-Headed or Brave. Snobs, Cowards, Perfectionists, Loners and Shy Sims will not automatically visit this bar.

Sports Bar

Busiest days: Every weekday.

Celebrities of up to two stars will visit Sports Bars, but only one will visit at a time. Sports Bars attract Athletic Sims, Daredevils, Party Animals, and Sims that Love the Outdoors. These bars also attract Vampires and Sims in the Professional Sports Career. Bookworms, Cowards, Snobs, Loners and Sims that are Shy or Hate the Outdoors will avoid this bar.

Sports bars encourage Sims to work on their Athletic skill.

Waylon's Haunt

Happy Hour: 6 PM

Built away from the center of town, next to a shady-looking building, Waylon's Haunt is the lowest of the low, much like its usual patrons. Along with a small dance area and a full assortment of bar games, a plasma-screen TV (that surprisingly hasn't been stolen) is mounted in the corner of the room.

Happy Hour: 7 PM

A step up from Waylon's Haunt is Eugi's, which resembles an Irish pub. While it has a shuffleboard table and dart board like all bars, its Foosball table has been swapped out for a stand-up arcade cabinet. A small dance area in front of the stage provides entertainment for more athletic-minded locals.

Bridgeport Sports Zone

The Bridgeport Sports Zone is the classiest bar. The bouncer keeps out non-normal Sims but otherwise lets everyone enter the common room, which features an arcade and seating, if no dance floor. A VIP room in the back of the bar contains all the classic bar games as well as three wall-mounted plasma screens, but only 2-star celebrities (or anyone with §50) are allowed past the bouncer.

The Watering Hole Saloon is the default bar in Appaloosa Plains if Late Night is installed.

The Sims 4

Bars return in The Sims 4. They are a great place for Sims to practice their mixology skill, as every single bar needs a bar object to work. They are also a very good place to hangout and have dates.

If the player owns The Sims 4: Bowling Night Stuff and places a bowling lane on a bar, other Sims will come to the bar specifically to bowl, in addition to the other behavior on the lot. This also works for Nightclubs and Lounges.

Special Bar Nights and Happy Hour

In The Sims 4: Get Together there are new promotion nights, allowing Sims to enjoy different “Bar Nights” from 8pm to 2am throughout the week. Sims can also enjoy Happy Hour with discounted drinks everyday from 4pm to 7pm.

  • Happy Hour (Everyday) – Drinks are discounted by 50% for everyone.
  • Bear’s Night (Monday) – Requires the The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat Game Pack. Drinks are discounted 50% for Bears Only.
  • Alien Night (Tuesday) – Requires the The Sims 4: Get to Work Expansion Pack. Drinks are discounted 25% for Aliens only.
  • Ghost Nights (Wednesday) – Drinks are discounted 25% for Ghosts only.
  • Knight Nights (Thursday) – Requires the Knight Outfit. Drinks are discounted 50% for Knights only.
  • Ladies Nights (Friday) – Drinks are discounted 25% for Ladies only.
  • Singles Nights (Saturday) – Drinks are discounted 25% for singles only.
  • Guys Nights (Sunday) – Drinks are discounted 25% for Guys only.
