Professional Sports is a career track in The Sims series.
The Sims
The Pro Athlete career track is one of the ten basic career tracks for The Sims.
A Hall of Famer will eventually change careers and become a Mountain Climber in the X-treme career track.
The Sims 2
The Athletic career track in The Sims 2 is centered around the taming of the body, and as such, the Body skill is primary, with inspiration and understanding of the body pushing the lowly mascot into athletic stardom, then into coaching, and finally into recognition as a Hall of Famer. This track has the highest paying level 10 job of any base-game career track in The Sims 2. The Career reward object is the Exerto Punching Bag, a 2x2 punching bag which raises Fun and builds Body. It is unlocked when a Sim reaches All Star. If Apartment Life is installed, Jocks are likely to work in this career.

Promotion Levels
Opportunities
- Registering the Roster: The team needs you to drop off these roster registration forms at City Hall soon, or else the team could get in trouble for filing late. Go to City Hall to perform the delivery and you'll win the favor of your boss, as well as a job performance increase.
- The Right Way to Riot: Rioting is an important part of being a true sports fan and your boss thinks it's crucial for you to read "When to Rave and When to Riot." At the very least you'll learn some life lessons, not to mention the favor of your boss and an increased job performance.
- Hawking the Foam Finger: Selling food and merchandise throughout the stadium is no simple task. Your boss wants you to read "Making the Sale: From Hot Dogs to Foam Fingers" to complement your on-the-job training. Taking the time to read this book will build favor with your boss and increase your job performance.
- Health and Wellness Seminar: The local hospital wants you to speak about leading a healthy life through nutrition and exercise. All you need to do is go to City Hall and deliver the speech before the offer goes away. You will rise in the eyes of your superiors and increase your job performance.
- Always the Difficult Ones: Winning games can be consistently attributed to managing team drama. Your boss wants you to read "Dealing with Difficult Players" to provide some perspective on dealing with trouble makers, frequent free agents, and ball hogs. Doing so will improve your relationship with your boss and provide a boost to your job performance.
- Kicking the Cramps: Long road trips mean long hours sitting on the bus. Your boss thinks it'd behoove you to read "Bus Cramps: A Cautionary Tale." Read this book and it could improve relations with your boss and help your job performance.
- Inter-Office League: Your co-workers have organized a "casual," fun game to be held at the stadium on one of your days off. It's in your best interest to attend and give the game your all, because victory could mean a nice cash reward in addition to the joys of an intramural bonding experience. Work out and you'll earn that victory.
- Playbook Notes: The team thinks you can gain an advantage over the local rival team by watching them practice. Take some personal time to watch a scrimmage at the stadium and take notes on the plays the teams use. Your job performance will surely increase as a result.
- Draft Dodger: It's time to get drafted, but you don't have any idea how to do it. Your boss recommends reading "Getting Past the Draft," Which should increase your chances and job performance. It'll also build your relationship with your boss.
- Showing off for the Scouts: Talent scouts will be scoping the field at the next game, so you should make every effort to play. Play in the next game, and your performance will most certainly experience a healthy boost.
- The Big Game: Team morale is at an all time low and management is about to break into tears over half the team being on the disabled list. The next game needs to be a victory or else it could mean bad things for the health of the team. Plus, you'll receive a nice job performance boost.
- A Total Shoe-In: It's time to capitalize on your name! You've been asked to read "Signing Better Shoe Deals," because it's simply in your best interest. Your boss thinks the lessons learned from this book will improve your job performance, and therefore, your professional relationship.
- Brand Image: You've developed a name on the field, but your boss thinks you can go even further. You've been asked to read "Name Positioning: Start Your Brand" to jump start this transition. When completed, your relationship with your boss and job performance will improve.
- The Right Moves: You've become an excellent player, but that's not enough. Your boss wants you to read "It's More Then Good Moves" so you can further improve. Your job performance will improve as a result, as well as your relationship with your boss.
- Healthy Living: The hospital wants you to lend your athletic and nutritional expertise by speaking at their Healthy Living class. Go to the hospital to deliver the speech before the offer goes away, and your superiors will see that you get a raise.
- Spiraling Out: There's no reason your career needs to go down the long, unfortunate path of retirement. Your boss recommends you read "Avoiding the Downward Spiral" to pick up the right tips. Learning this will help your job performance and relationship with your boss. Can't say no to that!
- Stadium Cleanup: The rival team just came to town, and as usual, the visiting fans left our stadium in absolute disorder. The owner insists the stadium be cleaned by tomorrow and your co-workers are pleading for you to stay late to help out. You'll earn real points for sticking around to help.
- Ticket Counting: The stadium sold a record number of tickets at the last game. The problem is that the owner wants the tickets counted in time for the evening news. Your co-workers want you to stay late to assist in the counting process. You'll surely gain favor for helping out... assuming you can handle the extra hours.
Events
- Today wasn't the greatest day for your Sim. It was fan day at the stadium and with all of the fans touring the field and the locker room, it was very hard to get a good practice in. This caused your Sim a lot of stress.
- Your Sim has worked extra hard today and is a little exhausted - but the coach was extraordinarily impressed.
- While at practice, your Sim was dared to throw a ball up a flag pole and have it land perfectly balanced on the top. Bets were placed (mostly against you) and, as the ball was handed to you, all were confident in their decisions. No one expected that you would actually make the shot! Not only did you earn a bit of spending cash, but also won the adoration of fans and teammates as well!
- A well known sports legend was at practice today and saw you working out. He was impressed with your technique and decided to give you some very valuable tips on how to improve even more.
- At practice today you pulled out all the stops and lit the field on fire with sweet moves. The coach was so impressed that he gives your Sim a promotion.
- An up-and-coming rookie challenged you to a one-on-one showdown today in front of everyone (with no small amount of machismo) your Sim showed him how the game is truly meant to be played. That rookie's face was so red! Your teammates were wonderfully impressed.
Choices
- The coach wants you to start drinking a new energy drink that no one has ever heard of before. The coach says it will improve your performance but it sounds a little sketchy. Should you try one?
Drink it: Your sim drinks the energy drink and it tastes foul. Your sim proceeds to throw up. The coach apologizes profusely!
Decline: Your sim refuses to drink the energy drink. The coach is a little disappointed, but your sim feels that this may have been the right thing to do and your teammates seem to agree!
- Your sim was talked into running an obstacle course at practice against some teammates should your sim compete or just watch the competition?
Compete: Your sim made it through with flying colors! Your teammates are impressed and you win some cash from the betting pool!
Watch: Your sim just watches from the sidelines remembering the old addage: You can't win if you don't play.
- Your sim was joking around with some co-workers and said something terrible about one of the other team members. Unfortunately, there were some paparazzi nearby and they got the entire conversation on film! Should you blow the whole thing off or try and do some damage control?
Apologize: You managed to convince the paparazzi that s/he didn't really mean what s/he said. S/he was "just repeating a comment s/he heard from some where else." Nice save!
Blow it off: The paparazzi showed the conversation on the local news! Luckily, what you said was true and most people agreed with it...
- A gaggle of reporters arrived at work today and the coach needed to show a good example of athletic supremacy to them. Thinking that your sim would be the perfect example to show off how good their team is, he asks you to perform some brutal exercises while the reporters watch. After working so hard already today should you astound them with untold abilities or just give it the old college try?
Astound Them! The reporters were so stunned with your athletic abilities that their stories will probably scare the other team! The coach offers you a small bonus for such a great showing!
Just Try: It was pretty obvious that your sim wasn't really giving it his/her all. The reporters weren't really impressed and neither was the coach.
Notes
- Two or more active Sims who are in Professional Sports Career can greatly influence the outcome of the game as both their preparation, the teammate performance, and Athletics come into play when determining the outcome of a game.
- Game Records are based on both the number of games attended and the number games won or lost. They affect a Sim's job performance rate. The more prepared the character is the more likely they'll go to a game. The more they win, the more likely they'll call you. If the characters does not attend a game or lose a game their record goes down. It's good idea get a Pumped-Up moodlet before playing a game to improve game records.
- Professional Sports is one of the many jobs where a Sim cannot "Suck up to their boss" or "Work Hard" during working hours without a mod being used. Unless a Sim has a computer and has the Workaholic trait, you cannot increase job performance nor make up any missing hours.
