Appaloosa Plains
At one point Appaloosa Plains was a sleepy ranching township, its only claim to fame being a garish tourist trap that drew in the occasional passerby. However, a recent influx of city slickers has turned the area into a bustling hub of activity. They keep arriving with their stacks of Simoleons, retrofitting the town with modern amenities while eagerly believing they've acquired their own slice of country paradise. The clash between the old and new is readily apparent, with some elderly die-hards clinging to the remaining vestiges of life as they knew it. Will the town come together in the new era of prosperity, or will the generational clash leave a clear line drawn in the sand?

Onomatology

Appaloosa Plains is a world that was introduced in The Sims 3: Pets. The world was first mentioned as "a quiet country-side town with meadows and woods to explore." Appaloosa Plains in the past was a cowboy ranch town in the Midwest, on the edge of the highway. As time progressed, the town has degenerated into a bit of a neglected ghost town before finally turning into a large township. The town is named after the Appaloosa breed of horse.

Description

Appaloosa Plains is centered around pets and pet-related activities, with most households owning at least one pet. The countryside theme of the world can be seen from the abundance of ranch-style houses with barns along with its hilltop, riverside location.

Trivia

• A dinosaur is located on the edge of town. Dogs can collect bones and search for treasure here. The pose of the statue is based on a T-Rex at Cabazon Dinosaurs in Cabazon, California.
• As noted by Rebecca Sherin, the geography was based on Arizona's Sedona, but with a "splash of Kentucky green!"
• The number of minor pets spawned in Appaloosa Plains has higher cap than other worlds.
• There are new rabbit holes, and the old ones look completely different in Appaloosa Plains.
• The XML in the world file carries preset celebrity data for Sims in Appaloosa Plains. So when Late Night is installed some number of residents of the world have celebrity status.
• The beach, Adventure Landing, is named after a waterpark/arcade in Jacksonville, Florida. It also has the same address of the Adventure Landing location closest to Jacksonville Beach. Graham Nardone (aka SimGuruGraham), a producer for The Sims 3: Pets, once worked there as a gameroom manager.
• All deceased Sims in Appaloosa Plains are red, in clothing, skin, and hair. Additionally, all of them have the same favorite color: orange.
• Appaloosa Plains is one of the locations where postcards can be obtained from in The Sims 4.
• Sims in inactive households can get stuck just outside the Newton Cemetery in between a hedge and a "no llamas" sign. The Sims will be unable to move, stomping their feet there until the player deletes the corner of the hedge closest to the sign in Edit Town mode or uses the resetsim cheat on the Sims who are stuck.
• In The Sims 4: Laundry Day Stuff, there is an object called "Zydeco Rub-Board" mentioning that Sims from Appaloosa Plains to Twinbrook used to practice Zydeco music, but it lost its popularity.
