Gameplay

The Sims 2 Double Deluxe is The Sims 2 with the addition of The Sims 2: Nightlife and The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff. The player can control Sims that grow up, have wants and fears, get a job, go to school, get married, have kids, and die of drowning, fires, old age, starvation, and much more. The player can use cheats to get more looks and styles, and they can live in condos and mansions. The player can create up to eight Sims in their families and make their Sims wealthy or poor. Young teens can get arrested and their grades can go from A+'s to F's quickly. There are more food options, such as steak, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, sandwiches, cakes, and soup. In Nightlife, it's more about having fun and partying. Going to clubs, speed dating, bowling, driving cars, and becoming a vampire. Celebration Stuff is along a similar line, but including more party objects and decorations for having the best parties to celebrate, such as baby showers, weddings, birthdays, and barbeque parties.

Needs

Main article: Motives

As you control a Sim, their Needs have to be filled. For example if a Sim needs to take a bathroom break you click on the toilet, if one has been inhabited in the household, and a venue appears and you must choose what available action you want your Sim to take. There are eight basic motives every Sim has, babies and toddlers only have six and children have seven. If you fill a motive the bar fills up with green which means they have been satisfied, whether for a long period of time, or not. The basics motives are, Hunger, Hygiene, Energy, Comfort, Bladder, Social, Fun, and Environment. If a Sim has neglected a need long enough, they go into a Needs Failure in which something happens to the Sim, whether they have an embarrassing accident, or fall on the floor asleep.

Wants and Fears

Main article: Wants and Fears

Every Sim has Wants that need to be filled and Fears that you need to avoid. Every Sim has different wants depending on their Turn On's and Off's and their Aspiration. If you complete a want they earn aspirations points which can be used to purchase helpful items. A completion of a want also contributes to the Aspiration Meter which is how the Sim is doing in life. The higher an aspiration, the better the Sim is doing and then they can use an aspiration reward.

Patch for The Sims 2 Nightlife

The Sims 2 Double Deluxe comes pre-patched.

Note

If users have The Sims 2 or The Sims 2 Deluxe installed, it must be uninstalled before installing The Sims 2 Double Deluxe.

There has been some minor issues with the game including not being able to work with Body Shop. This is minor however and should only concern people who like to customize their games.
