Painting is a skill in The Sims 3. The skill is augmented by the Artistic trait, and the Extra Creative lifetime reward. Sims can learn Painting skill by using the easel, drafting tableTS3:A, or sketchbookTS3:UL. They can also take a class at the school or college or art. With Ambitions, Sims can register as a self-employed Painter.

Sims can make small, medium, or large-sized paintings. A finished painting can be named, hung on the wall, or sold either from the easel, inventory, or consignment store. Sketches made from the drafting table or sketchbook cannot be consigned, however.

Painting Value and Quality
The value of the paintings varies, and it depends on many factors, including skill level, canvas size, painting quality, number of paintings Sims have made, and some other factors.

*The base value of the painting depends on the canvas size and skill level. Below is the table of base painting value.
{|class="plaintable heading-blue"
!rowspan="2"|Canvas Size / Type
!colspan="11"|Skill Level
|-

*A bonus is added to the painting value from the number of paintings made (n) times the canvas size.
**Small = n x 2
**Medium = n x 4
**Large = n x 6
**Drafting table = n x 2
**Sketchbook = n x 3
*The painting value is multiplied by a random multiplier, ranging from 0.75x to 1.25x.
*The painting value is increased by 40% for a portrait, 25% for a brilliant painting, or 50% for a masterpiece.
*The painting value is increased by 50% if the artist has Extra Creative lifetime reward.
*The painting value is doubled if the Master Painter challenge is completed.
*The painting value appreciates every day if the painting is made at level 5 skill or higher. The appreciation value is earned from the skill level (s) the painting was first started times the canvas size.
**Small = s x 0.5
**Medium = s x 0.75
**Large = s x 1
**Drafting table = n x 0.5
**Sketchbook = n x 0.75
*If the artist dies, the painting value is added by §930 and the rate of appreciation above is doubled. This bonus will not be given if the artist was already a ghost.

Brilliant paintings and masterpieces are unlocked at level 6 and 9 of Painting skill, respectively. There's a 20% chance Sims will paint a brilliant painting and 10% chance for masterpiece. The chance can be increased by having either of the following benefit:
#+40% (brilliant) and +35% (masterpiece) if the Sim has completed Proficient Painter challenge,
#+25% (brilliant) and +15% (masterpiece) if the Sim has Extra Creative lifetime reward, or
#+20% (brilliant) and +15% (masterpiece) if the Sim has the Perfectionist trait.

Keep in mind that the preceding benefits do not stack. The priority is sorted in descending order, so the benefits will supersede the following. This means that having completed the Proficient Painter challenge will void the Extra Creative reward and Perfectionist trait. In University Life, completing the Advanced Art Training Brilliant and Advanced Art Training Masterpiece allows Sims to paint brilliant paintings and masterpieces at will. See below.

Painting Speed
The bigger the canvas size, the longer it takes for Sims to finish a painting. Small painting takes 3 hours to finish, medium painting takes 5 hours, large painting takes 8 hours, draft takes 4 hours, and sketch takes 45 minutes. Painting a portrait takes 50% time to complete. Having the Perfectionist trait adds completion time by 15 minutes. Completing the Brushmaster challenge cuts the painting speed in half.

Painting Styles
As Sims advance in the Painting skill, the quality of the paintings also get better. There are 158 paintings available to paint. Each painting has minimum and maximum skill caps — Sims with low Painting skill cannot make a high-level painting, and vice versa. This means that once the Sim has advanced in the skill, they will no longer be able to paint unique low-level paintings.

Advanced Art Training
This can be overcome in The Sims 3: University Life. Sims who have reached level 6 in Art Appraiser career at either branch can receive the Advanced Art Training opportunity chain from the abandoned warehouse. Once Sims complete the opportunity chain, they are given the ability to paint paintings at any skill level on the easel, which also unlocks Advanced Art Trait Brilliant opportunity, which unlocks Advanced Art Trait Masterpiece. Completing the respective opportunities will enable Sims to paint brilliant paintings and masterpieces at will.

Trait-Based Paintings
Each painting has 9 variations that depends on the Sim's traits. All variations of the painting are equally weighed if the Sim has one or more traits on the list.

Still-Life Paintings
At level 5, Sims can paint a still-life painting and sketchTS3:UL. When choosing this painting type, the screen will display a camera interface. The players can position the camera to capture the still-life snapshot for the Sim to paint. The still-life painting has 2 basic effects. Either effect will be applied to the painting randomly.

At level 7, Sims can paint portrait of other Sims or petsTS3:P. The players can take the snapshot of the other Sim or pet. They will pose while the Sim paints. Portraits take 50% longer to complete, but the value is worth 40% more than regular paintings.

At level 8, Sims can memorize scene using the cellphone. The camera interface will be displayed for the players to capture a snapshot. Sims can later paint from memory on the easel, based on the snapshot taken from the memorize scene interaction.

Stylized Still-Life Paintings
Upon reaching level 6 Painting skill, Sims can unlock additional stylized still-life paintings, providing they have the required traits. There are three types of stylized paintings, i.e. Genius, Insane, and Somber. Genius style requires Genius trait, Insane style requires Insane trait, and Somber style requires Grumpy trait. Having the Artistic trait will unlock all the styles.

There's a chance that Sims will apply a style when painting the basic still-life painting if they have certain traits or moodlets. This only happens randomly, and cannot be done on command.
*Somber: Grumpy and Can't Stand Art traits; Lonely, Desolate, Disappointed, Lost A Friend, Rejected Proposal, Heartbroken, Mourning, Boring Conversation, Embarrassed, Humiliated, Upset, Feeling Unlucky, and Buzz Crashed moodlets
*Genius: Genius trait; Buzzed, Divine Meal, Intrigued, Honor Student, Learning Quickly, and Tranquil moodlets
*Insane: Insane, Over Emotional, Neurotic, and Never Nude traits.

Reaching level 9 of the skill will unlock the Somber style regardless of the trait, but not the other two.

Trivia
*There's a 20% chance the painting will be displayed at the art gallery, but only if it's sold directly from the easel.
*Crafted paintings cannot be stolen by Kleptomaniacs, but can still be robbed by burglars.
*If the Sim has the Extra Creative lifetime reward or has completed any of the skill challenges, his/her right hand will sparkle while painting.
*When renovating a house as a Sim who works in Architectural Designer profession, decorating the house with the portrait of the client or member of the client's household will add bonus scores.TS3:A

The Sims 2: Pets (Also known as TS2 P) is the fourth expansion pack released for The Sims 2. This game was released on October 18, 2006 for US and Canada, October 20, 2006 for EU, and October 26, 2006 for Australia. The main idea of this game is to let the player own pets. The version is a remake of The Sims: Unleashed, which was a best-seller at that time. It is also included in The Sims 2 Fun with Pets Collection.

Description[edit source]

Create the perfect pet for your Sims to train, play with, and love throughout a lifetime. Pick everything from their paws to their personality. Choose from dozens of popular dog and cat breeds like Schnauzer and Siamese. Or create a unique cat or dog by modifying their features and body type. Your Sims can teach their pets tricks, take them for a romp in the park to meet other furry friends, or buy them toys, beds, and much more. But pets have minds of their own-so expect the unexpected!

Minor Features[edit source]

New Build Mode Additions[edit source]

Comparison of diagonal and rectangular roof on diagonal room
 • Diagonal Room Tool

In addition to Room Tool, the tool to create a square-shaped room without holding the Shift button, the players can use this tool to create a diagonal-shaped room easily. Players can also toggle between Room Tool with this tool by pressing Ctrl+D button.

 • Diagonal Roofs[1]

The diagonal roof is very handy to cover a diagonal room with roof. Diagonal roof comes with all styles of roof, including hipped, gabled, mansard, and pagoda[TS2:BV] styles. Previously, the only way to cover it is by placing normal roofs over and over which will awkwardly cobble together. Diagonal roof, however, is never used if players use auto-roof button.

 • Octagonal Room Tool

This tool simplifies the creation of diagonal room. Instead of dragging the wall 8 times in different sides, players can simply use this tool. By default, the octagonal room will be 3x3 in size. To enlarge and shrink it, press + key and - keys. Players can also rotate the room before building it by pressing < or > keys. Ctrl + E hotkey can be used to toggle the Octagonal Room Tool with walls, half walls, and fences.

 • Flatten Lot Tool[1]

The Flatten Lot Tool will level the entire elevation in the lot with the road. Note that the terrain boundaries will still match the surrounding elevation, making the borders sometimes have steep terrain. Any elements that are above a terrain will not be affected, such as foundation, objects, or Sims. This tool technically has the same usage as Level Terrain Tool, but is used to the entire lot without exception.

 • Sledgehammer Tool[1]

The Sledgehammer Tool is a very useful tool when players want to delete the entire objects that stack with each others, such as shelves, surface with decorative sculptures, or multiple wall-hanging objects. Pointing an object with this tool will highlight it, making it contrast to see which object will be deleted. For example, clicking a curtain on the wall will only delete the curtain, but if clicking the wall if a window and the curtain is hanging on it will delete all those objects.

 • Rotating Floor Tiles[1]

Players can rotate the floor tiles by pressing < or > button. Several flooring requires rotation to be fully decorative, such as floor tiles that only have one direction (sideways only), or corner tiles. Remember to rotate it back to its original direction, because some flooring that has patterns will be jumbled when rotated.

 • Quarter Tiles[1]

While selecting a floor tile, press the Ctrl+F hotkey to enable the quarter tiling. Previously, the only way to place half tiles is to build a diagonal wall or fence and place a tile between it. With this feature, players can create floor patterns more easily.

 • Edger Fences

The Sims 2: Pets feature a new fence style that resembles a divider line. These edger fences can be used to delineate when two different floor tiles are adjacent to make a visible divider. Technically, these edger fences are the same as existing low fences which can be stepped on. Multi-tiled objects cannot intersect the edger fences, and because fences are not allowed inside an apartment slot, these edger fences aren't either.[TS2:AL]

New Objects[edit source]

 • Pet bowls
 • Pet houses and Pet beds
 • Kitty Kraze Katnip
 • The Chewinator by ChompCo Dog Bone
 • Pet Display Cases
 • Collar Connection Display Collar Rack
 • Tropico Avian Sanctuary Bird Cage
 • FMCU 3000 Hamster Cage
 • Mr. Maritime Aquarium
 • Beware of Pet Sign

New Interactions[edit source]

Sim-pet based
 • Sims can adopt strays anywhere with sufficient relationship.
 • Sims can teach pets commands to perform, which is essential for their career promotion.
 • Sims can praise or scold to encourage/discourage their reinforced behavior.
 • Sims can take for a walk with a pet and boost their relationship for as long as they're away.
Object-based
 • New locking door option. Sims can lock doors to restrict pets from going through.
 • Most objects are modified for pets. These include objects to be chewable/scratchable, slept on, and so on.
 • Pets will yowl and howl on noisy objects, such as stereo, band objects[TS2:U], DJ booth, and karaoke machine[TS2:NL].
 • Pets may react to many moving objects or actions, such as alien abduction, RC cars, robots[TS2:OFB], resurrection[TS2:U][TS2:FT][TS2:AL], and so on.
 • Cats can jump onto counters, comfort themselves or eat food on it.
 • Small dogs and cats can climb onto bay window[TS2:OFB][TS2:MGS], and large dogs can chill in it.
 • Adult pets can ride cars and share carpools, but cannot ride helicopter.[2]
 • Puppies and kittens cannot use stairs, spiral stairs[TS2:AL], and elevators[TS2:OFB] on their own.
 • Doofus pets are likely to react when they see their reflection in the mirror.
 • Dogs can knock over trash can and dig trash.
 • Sims can only bathe dogs in bathtubs.
 • Dogs can use Wet n' Wild Water Wiggler[TS2:OFB] to raise their hygiene, while cats will avoid it.
