Description

Now your Sims can rediscover the joys of leisure time! Awaken your Sims' true passions in life as they discover and excel at all-new activities. Whether they're tossing a football with the family, practicing ballet, restoring cars with friends, or building train sets, your Sims now have more ways to build skills, enhance friendships, and make their lives more successful. Craft new, unique items for your Sims to use in their daily lives including clothing, pottery, and more. Your Sims will even unlock secret rewards by mastering their hobbies and advancing all-new careers. Explore a wide variety of new hobbies that will change your Sims' lives!

Features

  • Once Sims build up their skills, they can sell their arts and crafts or enter them into competitions for dance, food, and video game contests.
  • There will be a new Lifetime Aspiration bar, which fills when a major goal in a Sim's life is fulfilled (e.g., marriage). Goals depend on the Sim's aspiration. Points earned from these goals can be spent on benefits, such as the ability to not get fired, slower motive decay, and even the ability to have a secondary aspiration. Some benefits also depend on the Sim's aspiration.
  • New group activities let Sims spend time with family and friends. There are new special activities for kids and toddlers.
  • Hobbies can have unexpected moments, especially for Sims with low skill levels. Beginner Sims might sew a bear with one eye, make a lopsided jar on the pottery wheel, or even get poison ivy while hiking.
  • The new life state (and creature NPC) is a genie, however, it isn't selectable. It is delivered in a lamp by a gypsy, which randomly appears, and grants three wishes to its 'master'.
  • Sims will now be able to become 'BFFs' with any Sim. The option to tell an 'inside joke' will become available under Entertain if they're BFFs with someone.
  • If a Sim becomes good friends with a townie, when they grow up the player can have the townie grow up as well. This option only allows up to 3 townies to age simultaneously.
  • FreeTime adds two new talent badges - Pottery and Sewing. However, these and the Open for Business badges were glitched, making gaining new levels very hard.
  • Two pre-made, fully furnished houses are included in the Lots and Houses bin (Players with Nightlife or a download which allows cars without Nightlife should note that one, the "Bohemian Bungalow," does not have room for a driveway).

Additionally, there is an NPC named Mr. Humble that will show up for every family. He drops off a gift which happens to be a new computer with a preview of The Sims 3, which was in development when FreeTime was released (The Sims 3 was released in June of 2009).

New Objects

  • Basic barre, Violin, Synthesizer
  • Pottery Wheel, Sewing Machine
  • Activity Table (children and toddlers only)
  • Frames
  • Soccer Net, Basketball Court
  • Stationary Bike
  • Ant Habitat
  • New Video Games, MySims, FIFA 08, Spore, The Sims 3, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
  • Don't Wake the Llama board game
  • Model Train set
